Chapter 1 by blackhairedweasley
Mistakes of an Old Man.

As an old man sits in his office alone,

above him ten floors green flames shone.

The anger in him had tripled and grown

for there was nothing he could do to atone.

He knew he was wrong as he twirled his hat.

He had to admit he refused to act.

It's hard to believe its as simple as that,

that he would accept recieving the sack

over something as simple as turning his cheek

when others so desperately tried to speak.

He's amazed at how he thought they would sneak,

but in his own fear he proved himself weak

in all of the times he and dumbledore debated.

When the first war had finished and all were elated

he wouldn't hear against the world he created.

His wake up call was the man feared and hated.

If he had listened on that fateful night,

maybe he could have done things right.

And in his fear if he chose to fight

he could have evaded this perilous plight.

But in his apathy he stood aside.

He did nothing and now if he tried

he wouldn't amount to a name bearing pride,

merely known as the minister who only denied

the second coming of you know who,

a fact he refused to believe was true,

even as Cedric's body lay cold and blue,

those fearful eyes leaving obvious clue.

No matter who and no matter where,

whatever they said he did not care.

If he didnt see it, then it wasnt there.

Responsibility was too much to bear.

And now as he knew he must make his address,

he couldnt stand up or take in his breath.

In doing nothing he ensured those deaths,

and Cornelius Fudge knew he failed his test.
