Sitting in my potions class,

I look around the room,

All these silly students wishing

To finish their potions soon,

No one here looks over,

No one really cares,

The curse of being Slytherin,

All I get is stares.

Everyone is frightened,

The Dark Lord, he is back!

But when they look at Slytherin,

Fear is what we lack.

But how do they know what we’re thinking?

How can they tell what’s inside?

The curse of being Slytherin,

We’re always forced to hide.

Once, I respected my father,

His logic and coolness prevailed,

He never got caught by the ministry,

That is, until he failed.

But now my father’s in Azkaban,

My mother and I are alone,

The curse of being Slytherin,

The virtues of love are unknown.

And now here I am in my potions class,

Watching the Gryffindors work,

Not one of them even considering,

The truth behind my masquerade smirk.

For now I’ve been given my calling,

The Dark Lord has told me to kill,

The curse of being a Slytherin,

No one questions your will.

I don’t want to be a murderer,

If I want to live though, I must,

If I want to help my poor mother,

I must return my Professor to dust.

I wish that I wasn’t in Slytherin,

I wish that I wasn’t me,

The curse of being a Slytherin,

Trapped so that I can not flee.

And so tonight it will happen,

Tonight the deed will be done,

Tonight I will join my father,

Of my childhood there will be none,

For tonight I will murder my teacher,

A fate that I wish I could change,

The curse of being a Slytherin,

My life for his I exchange.

I do not believe that I’ll do it,

This mission will end in my death,

If I could just get to Potter,

But no, I must stay my breath.

Tonight will end all the hardship,

Tonight will end all my pain,

The curse of being a Slytherin,

Tonight, I shall be slain.

I’d like to say goodbye to mother,

Apologise for what I have done,

She really doesn’t deserve this,

A death eater Husband and Son,

But soon she’ll likely have neither,

The Dark Lord he does not forgive,

The Curse of being a Slytherin,

My life is not mine to live.
