This idea came to me really late one night, so I jotted it down in poetry form (which is not my best genre, mind you!) and I think it actually turned out great!
I feel compelled to reveal my heart,
Of why among others you stand apart,
And why before we depart,
I wish to prove I can do my part.
For seven years I’ve been a gormless git,
No wonder you were inclined to throw a fit,
When I acted on impulse rather than wit,
Ne’er thinking of others one little bit.
But now I feel I must be true,
Lily Evans—I love you,
Your smile, your hair—that beautiful hue,
Of blazing red, eyes of green too.
You see others for who they really are,
Which is why I gaze at you from afar,
Too scared to approach when your door is ajar,
My love for you is quite bizarre.
You make me smile in every way,
A love so strong, none can betray,
To find the courage to allow me to say,
My heart will not remain at bay,
Until I can call you my own, dear sweet,
Whose mind I can never hope to compete,
Although I find my own discrete,
Methods of quelling my mad heartbeat.
Your kindness unrivaled, the glance that I miss,
Receiving from you, Aphrodite of bliss,
Er’ I strive to ask you this—
Will you now deny me a kiss?
