~*~
The stadium erupts in tumultuous applause,
Everyone around them knows the cause.
Three champions, cunning and brave,
Spot the damsels they must save.
Running, ducking, leaping, dodging,
The Cockatrice puts up a fight.
Screaming, weeping, fearing, berating,
Save the girl and do what’s right.
Feverish scribbles fill the page,
Documenting the beast’s fierce rage.
An early deadline, no time to wait,
Publish first and seal your fate.
A slash of claws, a beat of wings,
Gore. Blood. Red.
Disaster, confusion, chaos,
The Cockatrice leaves in its stead.
Sell me a story?
Ha! How about five?
All three Heads injured?
How the hell did they survive?
Fleeing, panicking, shrieking, disbelieving,
An attack remembered as gory;
Leaping, laughing, whooping, grinning,
You’re the reporter with all the glory!
