It seems no matter how hard I try
I’m always one step behind
Your expectations.
You put so much trust in me.
Now I don’t know how
To not let you down.
I have questions I want answered
And you always seem so out of reach.
I know so little
And you seem to know everything.
How am I supposed to save the world
When I don’t know where
My mission leads?
I trusted you.
But now they say
That I can’t have the truth.
Why couldn’t you
Just tell me yourself?
I thought you perfect.
I thought you perfect.
Now I run from you
Like the prodigal I am.
