Silence Falls by ToBeOrNotToBeAGryffindor

They cower from me just like frightened mice,
And I, the cat, hold fate upon my paw --
Their squeaks and pleas, a natural device;
I relish them, enjoy them one and all.

So, do the fallen haunt me in the night,
And do they stalk me in my ev’ry dream?
Should I lament their screams and deathly fright,
Regard the lives I crush with some esteem?

Alas, I fear that I must disappoint,
Because I shall not ever shed a tear
For Mudbloods and the heroes they anoint --
Whatever I must do for my Lord’s ear.

No matter how they rant and rave and shout,
The silence comes and then the lights go out.
