Today I Do Not Want To Be A Ghost

Today I do not want to be a ghost-
Pride still beats within my absent heart.
My death day is run over by the headless hunt,
A rejection letter crumpled in my pearly hand,
And I wonder what there is to still exist for.

Today I do not want to be a ghost-
Fear still pulses through my nonexistent veins;
The students' whispers of the danger grips me.
I faintly hear a rustling along the stone floor
And etched into a young boy's features
Is stark consternation.
A gigantic monster turns the corner-
Big bulbous yellow eyes-
And I fervently wish I had not chosen
To stay here as a ghost.
But then my mind instantly seizes:
A sense of fiery hell and bitter ice colliding.

Today I do not want to be a ghost,
Sought after by the grieving
Who still think to see the departed,
And they refuse to understand,
So set in their ways;
And depression sinks into my soul...

...I wish I was not a ghost.
