Today I Do Not Want To Be A Witch

Today I do not want to be a witch-
Scrubbing the dirty metal pans
Dropped constantly on the filthy floor;
A gold necklace hanging on my neck,
The only real proof of what I am;
Dead snakes are nailed to the door.
He calls me a Squib and I wish
Such a statement could be true,
For then I would not be a witch,
Expected to be greater than the Muggles
Which are nothing but dirt beneath us.
I- I can't...
My voice has left me, but escape is all I seek.

Today I do not want to be a witch-
The hurt and disgust blazing in
Those handsome eyes barging out the door.
It gained me nothing, that magic.
Left to wander aimlessly,
The locket the only thing to remind me.
I do not want it;
I no longer care.

Today I do not want to be a witch.
Today I do not wish to live.
Magic has drained me, life has killed
What I once treasured and sought after,
And now the baby stands for how
My horrid past went all wrong.
I cannot lift a finger, nor a wand...
My weakened spirit is finally free
Of the mortal bonds.
