The Weird Sisters - B-Sides and Rarities, Vol. 1 by minnabird, Hypatia, eternalangel, the opaleye, Nagini Riddle, Kinnu, Al Clark
Past Featured StorySummary: Welcome back to another rousing round of rambunctious rock!

However, a new act has edged into town and bumped ol’ Celestina off the stage for a two-night-only event. Rocking their way into the main event are the boys with the noise, the fellows with the cellos: The Weird Sisters!

Wrocking Wordsmiths out there have taken songs from many genres of rock (from light rock to metal, and everything in between) and give it a good Potter treatment to bring you songs that might make it on the Wizard Wireless Network’s rock station.

Born To Be Wild by minnabird
Author's Notes:
Original Song Title/Artist: Born to Be Wild by Steppenwolf
Artist's/Author's Notes: This has been stuck in my head since I sang it at karaoke Thursday. Then I remembered this challenge. And I couldn't find a better title than the original.

This entry took Third Place in the challenge.

Kick off from the ground.
Head into the sky!
Leavin’ here tonight,
And we’ll cut off all our ties.
Yeah darlin’ just forget the others,
Take my hand and we’ll fly away
All the way to horizon’s end.
Now, let’s find a new day.

Let’s outstrip the lightning,
Tear the sky asunder,
Racin’ with the wind
And the feelin’ that we’re under.
Yeah darlin’ just forget the others,
Take my hand and we’ll fly away
All the way to horizon’s end.
Now, let’s find a new day.

Like a true magic child
We were born, born to be wild.
We can climb so high
We kiss the world goodbye.

Born to be wild.
Born to be wild.

Curse Me With Your Best Shot by Nagini Riddle
Author's Notes:
Original Song Title/Artist: Hit Me With Your Best Shot by Pat Benatar
Artist's/Author's Notes: I love this song!

Hey you're a real tough wizard
With a long history
Of dueling little hearts
Like the one in me
Oh, that's alright,
Come see how you do it
Call up your smarts,
and we’ll get down to it
Curse me with your best shot
Why don't you try me
With your best spell
Curse me with your best shot
Magic away

You banter with a "come on"
You don't duel fair
It don’t matter, see if I care
Jinx my legs, your fight is vain
I'll rebound back on my feet again

Curse me with your best shot
Why don't you try me
With your best spell
Curse me with your best shot
Sparks all the way!

Now, you're a cocky wizard
With that long history
Of dueling little souls
Like the one in me
Before I put another mark
On your defiant face
You better make sure
You put me in my place

Curse me with your best shot
Come On, try me with your best spell
Curse me with your best shot
Magic away

Curse me with your best shot
Why don't you try me with your best spell
Curse me with your best shot
I’ll blow you away!

Wrock 'n' Rowl Hogwarts by Al Clark
Author's Notes:
Original Song Title/Artist: Rock 'n' Roll High School by the Ramones
Artist's/Author's Notes: Of course more than half the words are new, 'cause "wrock" and "Rowl" are not the same words as "rock" and "roll". :-)

Wrock, wrock, wrock, wrock, wrock 'n' Rowl Hogwarts

Well I'm always dozing in history
Wrock, wrock, wrock 'n' Rowl Hogwarts
'Cause I'd rather play with a fanged frisbee
Wrock, wrock, wrock 'n' Rowl Hogwarts
I just wanna catch a snitch
I just wanna get a witch
Wrock, wrock, wrock, wrock, wrock 'n' Rowl Hogwarts
Well the witches there give me quite a jolt
Wrock, wrock, wrock 'n' Rowl Hogwarts
Flyin' around on my new Firebolt
Wrock, wrock, wrock 'n' Rowl Hogwarts
I hate the High Inquisitor
Don't wanna be taught by a Death Eater
Wrock, wrock, wrock, wrock, wrock 'n' Rowl Hogwarts
Wrock, wrock, wrock, wrock, wrock 'n' Rowl Hogwarts

Wand, wand, wrock 'n' Rowl Hogwarts
Wand, wand, wrock 'n' Rowl Hogwarts
Wand, wand, wrock 'n' Rowl Hogwarts
Won-Won, oh baby . . .

First Kiss by Hypatia
Author's Notes:
Original Song Title/Artist: Last Kiss originally by Wayne Cochrane then by J. Frank Wilson and the Cavaliers and Pearl Jam
Artist's/Author's Notes: Snape’s point of view. While I don’t expect he was allowed in the house after Lily died, I think he could have obsessed over the idea of being there to say his goodbye.

Oh where, oh where, can my Lily be?
The Dark Lord took her away from me.
She's passed through the veil, now I've got to be good,
So I can see her again when I leave this world.

Dumbledore promised to keep her safe,
But it turned out she’d been betrayed.
The Dark Lord warned, –Step aside,
Silly girl, only your son need die.”
She stood her ground, pleading for her child.
The Dark Lord killed her, and then he smiled.
But her death cast a powerful charm,
The Dark Lord’s gone; the boy’s unharmed.

Oh where, oh where, can my Lily be?
The Dark Lord took her away from me.
She's passed through the veil, now I've got to be good,
So I can see her again when I leave this world.

By the time I arrived, it was too late,
My love had already met her fate,
I’d lost my chance to say goodbye,
I knelt down and closed her emerald eyes.
Could it be reversed, to undo this curse,
I’d gladly exchange my life for hers.
I held her close I kissed her - our first kiss,
I bid farewell to the life we’d both missed.
Her soul had left with a flash of green light,
I lost my love, my life that night.

Oh where, oh where, can my Lily be?
The Dark Lord took her away from me.
She's passed through the veil, now I've got to be good,
So I can see her again when I leave this world.

Imagine by Nagini Riddle
Author's Notes:
Original Song Title/Artist: Imagine by John Lennon
Artist's/Author's Notes: I have just been hearing this song practically every day, so it was time to apply it to the world of magic--obviously, the song is not about getting rid of differences, per se, but rather setting them aside and coming together as one people

Imagine there's no magic
It might be easy if you try
No spells or any potions
Then you could not deny
Imagine all the people
Living all the same...

Imagine there's no evil
It might be hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no Death Eaters too
Imagine all the people
Living for a greater good...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
Imagine with no difference
All the world would be as one

Imagine no blood status
I wonder if you can
No pure or half or mudbloods
A family for man
Imagine all the people
Standing as one...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
Imagine without difference
All the world would live as one

We Give The Killers Names But You're The Worst Of All And I Wish I'd Never Met You by the opaleye
Author's Notes:
Original Song Title/Artist: Morning Glory by Oasis
Artist's/Author's Notes: Er... warning for heavily implied drug use. This guy is obviously pretty broken-hearted and angsty.

We give the killers names:
Belladonna will not hurt you
if you know it’s fame,
But Amortentia sounded good to me.
You caught me in your Devil’s Snare
Inducing my Euphoria for the past year,
But no elixir can cure me now you’ve gone.

I need a little time to hate you,
Need a little time to hate you, hate you,
Need a little time to hate you,
Need a little time to free my mind
from our glory days I remember all too well.

What’s the point in mourning glory?
Well?
Need a little time to hate you,
Hate you well.
What’s the point in mourning glory?
Well?
Need a little time to hate you,
Hate you.

All my dreams are dead
Now I’m chained to the cauldron
and my pounding head,
No one ever warned me about you.
With aconite and hellebore,
You’ve poisoned me but all I want is more,
Can’t escape your toxic grasp
where you left me here to choke.

Need a little chance to shake you,
Need a little chance to shake you, shake you,
Need a little chance to shake you,
Need a little chance to shake you off,
Slip you a taste of your own damn asphodel.

‘Cause what’s the point in mourning glory?
Well?
Need a little chance to shake you,
Shake you well.
What’s the point in mourning glory?
Well?
Need a little chance to shake you,
Shake you.

Well?

Cursebreaker by Nagini Riddle
Author's Notes:
Original Song Title/Artist: Heartbreaker by Pat Benatar
Artist's/Author's Notes: Bill is so dreamy...

Your job is such a dangerous thing, tombs and pyramids
But what you bring home to me, goes right to my head
You're a rich kind of sinner, you release my inner fantasy
The foreseeable winner and you know that you were born to be

You're a cursebreaker, dough maker, gold taker
Why don't you come over to me
You're a cursebreaker, dough maker, gold taker
Why don’t you come, come on, oh!

Your gold has set my heart afire, ragin’ out of control
You brought me all my rich desires, now it's takin' my soul
You're a rich kind of sinner, you release my inner fantasy
The foreseeable winner and you know that you were born to be

You're a cursebreaker, dough maker, gold taker
Come on, mess around with me
You're a cursebreaker, dough maker, gold taker
Come on, mess around, come on, oh!

You're my rich, lauded sinner, you release my inner fantasy
The foreseeable winner, oh, you know that you were born to be

You're a cursebreaker, dough maker, gold taker
Why don’t you come over to me
You're a cursebreaker, dough maker, gold taker
Why don’t you come over to me

You're a cursebreaker, dough maker, gold taker
Come on, mess around with me
You're a cursebreaker, dough maker, gold taker
Cursebreaker!

Losing My Toad by Kinnu
Author's Notes:
Original Song Title/Artist: Losing My Edge by LCD Sound system
Artist's/Author's Notes: It's a pretty tuneless and meaningless song, but I love listening to it! And I thought it fit Neville Longbottom perfectly when I was re-writing it...

Yeah, I'm losing my toad.
I'm losing my toad.
The wizards are coming up from behind.
I'm losing my toad.
I'm losing my toad to the wizards from London and from London.
But I was there.

I was there in 1991.
I was there at the first Herbology show in Puddlemere.
I'm losing my toad.
I'm losing my toad to the wizards whose swishes I hear when they get on the Comets.
I'm losing my toad to the Death-eaters who can tell me every member of every good group from 1970 to 2000.
I'm losing my toad.

To all the wizards in Paris and Sofia.
I'm losing my toad to the dark-school Durmstrangites in black jackets and borrowed nostalgia for the remembered eighties.

But I'm losing my toad.
I'm losing my toad, but I was there.
I was there.
But I was there.

I'm losing my toad.
I'm losing my toad.
I can hear the swishes every night on the Comets.
But I was there.
I was there in 1991 at the first Crash practices in a ground in the Quidditch stadium.
I was working on the 'Up' sounds with much patience.
I was there when Madam Hooch started up her first failure.
I told her, "Don't try me that way. You'll never make a sickle."
I was there.
I was the first guy teaching Herbology to the smart wizards.
I taught it at greehouses.
Everybody thought I was nutters.
We all know.
I was there.
I was there.
I've never been right.

I used to shiver in the Potion dungeon.
I had nothing before anyone.
I was there in the Gryffindor Common Room with Harry Potter.
I was there in Hogwarts during the Second Wizarding War.
I woke up killing Nagini on the grounds in Hogwarts in 1998.

But I'm losing my toad to better-looking people with better ideas and more talent.
And they're actually really, really nice. Mostly.

I'm losing my toad.

Invincible (by Dumbledore's Army) by eternalangel
Author's Notes:
Original Song Title/Artist: Invincible by Adelita's Way

Wands out, we’re invincible tonight.
We’re alive. Can’t you see it in our eyes?
Curse us if you can, we will not hide.
For we are invincible tonight.

Come at us with everything you can bring.
We will not break nor give a reprieve.
Justice is burning bright inside,
and we are taking back our lives.

We’re rising up.
We’ve had enough.

We’re feeling invincible tonight.
We’re alive, can’t you see it in our eyes?
Curse us if you can, we will not hide.
For we are invincible tonight.

Tear down our walls, it will not matter.
Our will is strong, and will not shatter.
Side by side we stand and defend
our way of life to the very end.

We’re rising up.
We’ve had enough.

We’re feeling invincible tonight.
We’re alive. Can’t you see it in our eyes?
Curse us if you can, we will not hide.
For we are invincible tonight.

We will end you.
All the darkness and hell.
We’ll break down
your hatred’s spell.

We’re rising up.
We’ve had enough.

We’re feeling invincible tonight.
We’re alive. Can’t you see it in our eyes?
Curse us if you can, we will not hide.
For we are invincible tonight.

Quidditch Wizard by Nagini Riddle
Author's Notes:
Original Song Title/Artist: Pinball Wizard by The Who Artist's/Author's Notes: Hypatia started this off for me, so credit must go to her for the original idea. I just helped complete it, so I am asking for joint Authorship on this, if that is okay.

This entry placed Second in the challenge.

Ever since I was a young lad,
I've chased the golden ball.
From Hogwarts down to London
I’ve tried to get them all.
But I’ve seen nothing like him
Out on any Quidditch pitch...
That Gryffindor Seeker
Hunting the Golden Snitch!

He flies like a madman,
Becomes part of his broomstick.
Dodging all the Bludgers,
Always moving quick.
He plays by intuition,
Doesn’t matter if he falls.
That slight, black-haired kid
knows how to catch that golden ball!

He's a Quidditch wizard
Flying out there on the field.
A Quidditch wizard,
Yeah, he’s the real deal.

'How do you think he does it? I don't know!
What makes him so good? Just look at him go!'

His senses are so sharp,
Ignores the buzzers and the crowds,
His eyes are always searching;
You can hear his fans get loud.
He knows how to rebound
Even if he falls...
That slight, black-haired kid
knows how to catch that golden ball!

I thought I was
The Quidditch Master King.
But I fear I have to hand
The Quidditch Cup to him.

Even on my favored broom,
He can beat my best.
His teammates lead him in,
And he just does the rest.
He's sleek and fast and tough,
Roughin’ through it all...
That slight, black-haired kid
knows how to catch that golden ball!
