What can I say. I live in London and am obsessed with a teenage wizard and his friends. Am I mad? Probably Do I care? Hell no!
EDIT: Grown? Um, probably not

For my first foray into the realms of fanfiction I've chosen to write about the Marauders. I'll always stick fairly closely to canon as I think JK knows best. Although I've enjoyed reading about other ships I, personally, don't think I could write with conviction about Ginny/Crabbe or Hermione/Mclaggan relationships.

EDIT: ha ha ha ha ha - How I have changed! I'm now firmly in the rare-pair, SSP, and things that aren't quite conventional camp, although I still loves me some James/Lily.

My second chaptered fic (Apparently Asleep) has started a love affair with Tonks/Remus and confirmed my obsession for all things Sirius. *sigh*

I am indebted to Terri (mudbloodproud) for being a great beta and all round amazing person. If it hadn't been for her encouragement I would have thrown in the towel many months ago.

EDIT: I have made a lot of wonderful friends during my past three years on MNFF, including (in no particular order) Natalie, Kara, Hannah/Bob, Jess, Gina, Lea, Lori, Julia, Minna, Emmahhhh, and the fantabulous BB.

I hope Mugglenet and you enjoy reading my words as much as I've enjoyed writing them. Huge thank-you to my niece, Amanda, for being one of the first to catch the Harry Potter bug and nagging me into reading them.

I’ve written a variety of stories, so here is them arranged in categories. Some are cross- referenced. So a James/Lily may appear in Marauder or Canon Romance

EDIT: I haven't written much Harry Potter fanfiction for a while. It is unlikely I'll update the two chaptered fics I first started as they became a little too long and unwieldy. Sorry about that.

Growing Old Disgracefully by Equinox Chick

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: With her fortieth birthday approaching, Lavender Brown is seized with panic when she discovers her friends have a surprise party planned. Having declared herself permanantly thirty-nine, she does the only thing a grown woman can do when confronted with her age -- she does a runner. Apparating to King's Cross, she ends up on a train where she's surprised to meet a face from the past.

Will she confront her past and face up to her age? More importantly, will she return in time for the champagne?

This is Equinox Chick of Hufflepuff, and this is my entry for the Bookbasilisk 'Life Begins at Forty' challenge.

Thank you very much to Heather (MorganRay), Rose (Russia Snow) and Alyssa (Harry4lif) for their help in beta'ing this tale. Yes, three betas - I am greedy.

Drowning, not Waving by Equinox Chick

Rated: 6th-7th Years • Past Featured Story
Summary: Everyone knows Oliver Wood. He's the seventh year Gryffindor obsessed with Quidditch. But why is he so focused? What drives him on? And how will he cope when the Dementors get too close to his Seeker, and Diggory catches the Snitch?

Shutting himself in the changing room showers, Oliver cannot bring himself to visit Harry in the hospital wing, for the Dementors have released long repressed horrors in his own life. Will he finally face the reality of his life and obsession?

This is Equinox Chick submitting her final for the Characterisation class on the MNFF beta boards.

I would like to thank Emma (Amortentia X) for her invaluable help in beta'ing this tale. She not only corrected my horrible punctuation but helped a great deal with characterisation. I would also like to thank fgweasley, inspirations, eternalangel, Electronic Quillster and luinrina for their suggestions in class. Last but most definitely not least - thank you, Prof Haylee for allocating me Oliver Wood!

Disclaimer: I am not JK Rowling, but I doubt you're surprised by that.

** indicates a line taken from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

The opening lines are taken from a Stevie Smith poem called 'Not Waving, but Drowning.'

Nominated for a 2009 QSQ award in the Best Same Sex Pairing category. Thank you.

Also nominated for a 2010 QSQ award in the Best same Sex Pairing category. Thank you!

The Waiting Game by Equinox Chick

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: The waiting room at St Mungo's is a dreary place. Ginny knows it better than many people, for she spends her days there waiting -- and hoping.

This is Equinox Chick from Hufflepuff writing for the extra credit One Floo over the Fwoopers Nest category in the Bookbasilisk Summer Challenge.

I would like to thank Apurva (DracoGurlFurever) for beta'ing this for me and making some great suggestions.

I am not JK Rowling - I doubt that shocks you.

Phoenix Flames by Equinox Chick

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: A poem about the first task of the Triwizard Cup, held at Beauxbatons Academie in 2017.

This is connected to my fic 'Chasing the Scoop'. The journalist is Lavender Brown and the three champions are Jeunefleur - for Beauxbatons, Grindelwald - for Durmstrang, and Victoire Weasley - for Hogwarts.

I am not JK Rowling; I doubt that has shocked anyone here.

Staring into the Fire by Equinox Chick

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: When Harry broke into Dolores Umbridge's office to demand answers from Sirius and Remus, he little knew this would be the last proper conversation he would have with his godfather.

But what of the two that were left staring into the fire?

For Moony and Padfoot, it is a chance to re-live old times -- a chance to answer those questions long put aside.

This is Equinox Chick of Hufflepuff and this is my entry for the Bookbasilisk Summer Challenge - Gift of the Gab.

Many thanks to Afifa and MorganRay for beta'ing this story. I would also like to thank Miss K for some constructive comments she made about an earlier draft.

Disclaimer You know the drill. I am not JK Rowling. I doubt that's come as a huge surprise, but I thought I should let you know.

Diavol by Equinox Chick

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Twelve years after three of his friends have died, and another has been incarcerated, Remus Lupin is drifting. Unable to pursue a long-term career due to his lycanthropy, he has finally found work in a dragon reserve in Romania. He is accepted here and begins to find a kind of peace. But one day something happens that threatens this calm existence, and the other workers are calling Remus Lupin -- diavol.

I am Equinox Chick of Hufflepuff writing for the Third Task of the Triwizard Tournament.

Friends in Unlikely Places by Equinox Chick

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Hermione Weasley (nee Granger) was always top of the class. Everything she needed to know she found out from books.

But no book can help her bond with her child. Will a chance encounter with a stranger will put her back on the right path?

Queen of My Heart by Equinox Chick

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary:
"When Karis was just seventeen years of age,
She left Hogwarts for a life on the stage."

A poem about a canon character's very famous mother!

Chasing the Scoop! by Equinox Chick

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary:
Two reporters. One Story.

Lee Jordan, former Potterwatch stalwart has been reduced to working for Sourcery Sounds Radio. When Digby Smyth says jump – Lee says ‘How high?’ What he wants is his own radio station again but first he must travel to Beauxbatons Ecole de Magic to report on the Triwizard Tournament.

Lavender Brown is the best the Daily Prophet has. She’s made it because she’s bloody good at her job despite the reputation that has followed her from her Hogwarts days. She’s looking forward to reporting on every aspect of the Tournament – especially when a former crush appears.

This is the story of two reporters following one story – The Triwizard Cup at Beauxbatons.

I am Equinox Chick reporting for Hufflepuff in the Second Task of the Triwizard Tournament.

I'm not JK Rowling but I doubt you're shocked by that particular scoop

Thank you Alyssa (Harry4lif) for beat'ing this story.

Every Breath You Take by Equinox Chick

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: Breathing. It’s easy, isn’t it?
In. Out. In. Out.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Easy.
Natural.

But what if it’s not easy? What if your body struggles for breath? What happens if you cannot get enough oxygen into your lungs? What happens if your lungs contract so tightly that you’re forced to use all your strength simply to breathe?

And how on earth do a wizarding family cope with a Muggle condition that could kill?

This is Lily Luna Potter's story of living with asthma.

I am Equinox Chick of Hufflepuff and this is my entry for the Written World Challenge, Spring Term 2009. It has been written to garner support for Asthma UK.

I do not own any of these characters - they all belong to JK Rowling.

FACT: Asthma can kill.

A Second Chance by Equinox Chick

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: "I don't need help from filthy little Mudbloods like her!" **

Fifteen months have passed since Severus Snape shouted those words in fury. He's had fifteen months without Lily and it hurts like hell. Over the summer holiday he's made a decision - he wants her back. But first he needs to speak to her before the Hogwarts Express leaves King's Cross.

This story was originally written for the Hufflepuff Back to School challenge last year.

** indicates a line taken directly from Snape's Worst Memory - Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. I am not JK Rowling but I doubt you're surprised by that revelation.

Vampire - Ghost Child! by Equinox Chick

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Rosalburga Aphrodite Black is no ordinary Hogwarts student. First - she's American. Second - she's only just discovered she's a witch. Third - her mother is a Vampire. Fourth - her father is Sex!God Sirius Black.

Things are about to get very exciting for the new R.A.B.

This is a tale of high dram and passion. This is a tale of extreme cliche's. This is a tale that may never be seen again.

Disclaimer: I'm not JK Rowling or even Stephanie Meyer

Wormtail on the Hogwarts Express by Equinox Chick

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Peter Pettigrew wasn't always a traitor. He was a Marauder, a prankster and a good friend.

Peter Pettigrew wasn't always called Wormtail.

Perhaps, one change led to the other?

Disclaimer: I'm not JK Rowling but I doubt you're surprised by that revelation.

It Takes a Wolf to Prank a Dog by Equinox Chick

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Now in his seventh year, Remus Lupin is a calm and responsible student. His friends know this and often take advantage, knowing that he never takes it to heart.

But sometimes, just sometimes, Moony longs for revenge, especially when Padfoot takes things one step too far.

But Padfoot is wise to Marauder pranks, so for April Fool's Day this year, Moony enlists the help of four girls who are also champing at the bit to humiliate the 'too damn adorable' Sirius Black.

I am Equinox Chick of Hufflepuff and this is my entry in the April Fool's Day Challenge set in the Great Hall.

Thank you to Alyssa (Harry4lif) and Wendy (Kiley) for their help in beta'ing this tale.

The song featured in this story is Hot Legs by Rod Stewart which was a huge hit in the early part of 1978 and seemed to lend itself very well to Sirius Black!

Disclaimer Sirius and Remus are not mine *sigh* but belong to JK Rowling as do James,Lily and Peter. The Harley-Queens however are my rather fluffy invention.

Summer's Heat by Equinox Chick

Rated: Professors •
Summary: It is July 1994 and a man, riding a large winged beast, lands on a small Caribbean island. Sirius Black is looking for a sanctuary.

Sarah Macaulay has been living on the island for three years. She meets Sirius when he's washed up on her beach and for some unfathomable reason takes pity on this drifter.

Both have a past. Both have demons deep inside them. Both need to heal.

Snapdragons by Equinox Chick

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Have you ever wondered why Gryffindor, despite having the great Charlie Weasley as Seeker, never seemed to win the House or Quidditch Cup? Perhaps he was distracted?

This is the story of Charlie's last game in the his fifth year. All Gryffindor need to do is beat Hufflepuff and then the Cup is theirs - but Hufflepuff have a new Seeker and Charlie can't stop thinking about flowers.

This is a Charlie/OC pairing and has been written as a present for someone.

Warning - Unashamed fluff! I am not JK Rowling, but I doubt that surprises you.

Reconnaissance by Equinox Chick

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: On their first reconnaissance mission together Remus and Tonks escape from the Death Eaters thanks to her remarkable quick-thinking. Decamping to a Muggle pub Remus discovers she’s not as confident as he’d assumed. He’s always felt like the outsider – but perhaps he’s not alone?

The song featured in this one shot is Let's Dance by David Bowie.

I'm not JK Rowling - don't say you're surprised.

Love at First Strike by Equinox Chick

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary: When Cupid and his trainee, Godfrey, arrive at Hogwarts, their plan is to bring some love into Angelina Johnson’s life. Cupid knows exactly who she should be with. Unfortunately, when Godfrey panics the second arrow ends up in a totally different place.

This is Equinox Chick of Hufflepuff and this is my entry in the Cupid Gone Crazy challenge.

I am not JK Rowling; I doubt you're surprised by that.

Sirius, Baby by Equinox Chick

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: This is my blatant attempt at romancing my favourite man. It is sung to the tune Santa, Baby.

I am Equinox Chick of Hufflepuff and this is my entry for the Winter Snows Extra Credit- Christmas Carol Parody.

You dance divinely, Mr Weasley by Equinox Chick

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: It has been two and a half years since Fred died and George Weasley still feels the pain of loss. So when Ginny and Hermione turn up at the shop to ask him to fill in for a sick Ron at the Quidditch Winter Ball his initial response is a definite no! But Hermione’s plight, for some reason, moves him and he reluctantly agrees to partner his soon to be sister-in-law to the ball. With new robes and some dazzling dance steps, he little realises that this could be the night his life changes for the better.
