What can I say. I live in London and am obsessed with a teenage wizard and his friends. Am I mad? Probably Do I care? Hell no!
EDIT: Grown? Um, probably not

For my first foray into the realms of fanfiction I've chosen to write about the Marauders. I'll always stick fairly closely to canon as I think JK knows best. Although I've enjoyed reading about other ships I, personally, don't think I could write with conviction about Ginny/Crabbe or Hermione/Mclaggan relationships.

EDIT: ha ha ha ha ha - How I have changed! I'm now firmly in the rare-pair, SSP, and things that aren't quite conventional camp, although I still loves me some James/Lily.

My second chaptered fic (Apparently Asleep) has started a love affair with Tonks/Remus and confirmed my obsession for all things Sirius. *sigh*

I am indebted to Terri (mudbloodproud) for being a great beta and all round amazing person. If it hadn't been for her encouragement I would have thrown in the towel many months ago.

EDIT: I have made a lot of wonderful friends during my past three years on MNFF, including (in no particular order) Natalie, Kara, Hannah/Bob, Jess, Gina, Lea, Lori, Julia, Minna, Emmahhhh, and the fantabulous BB.

I hope Mugglenet and you enjoy reading my words as much as I've enjoyed writing them. Huge thank-you to my niece, Amanda, for being one of the first to catch the Harry Potter bug and nagging me into reading them.

I’ve written a variety of stories, so here is them arranged in categories. Some are cross- referenced. So a James/Lily may appear in Marauder or Canon Romance

EDIT: I haven't written much Harry Potter fanfiction for a while. It is unlikely I'll update the two chaptered fics I first started as they became a little too long and unwieldy. Sorry about that.

This album is a compilation of both the Great Hall's Great Hall-iday Bonus Challenge and Poetry Anyone's December Carol Challenge. Enjoy!

Christmas on the Outside by Equinox Chick

Rated: 1st-2nd Years • Past Featured Story
Summary: At the age of five, Dean Thomas experienced his best Christmas, made memorable by the man who would become his stepfather. Twelve years later, he is bereft of his family with only a handful of near-strangers to keep him company. Will he find any Christmas cheer?

This is Equinox Chick of Hufflepuff and this is my story for the Great Halliday Challenge - prompt 2 Christmas at Ground Zero.

I am not JK Rowling. She is sublime; I merely beg crumbs from her fanfiction table.

Misperception by Equinox Chick

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: Because Angelina Weasley had an irritating tendency to match-make, Oliver Wood had made excuses the last few times he'd been invited to to one of her parties. But after the revelations in the Daily Prophet about his personal life, he rather hoped he'd be safe this year.

But he'd reckoned without her determination that everyone needs some festive joy at Christmas.

Disclaimer: I am not JK Rowling, despite the spaghetti bologneise.

Thank you very much to Natalie (hestiajones) for beta'ing this and for being supportive. Thanks also to my flist who have put up with a lot of wangst from me recently. Thanks also to Maple for an interesting point she made in an SBBC discussion about Oliver ...

This is Equinox Chick from Hufflepuff , writing for the Great Hall-iday Challenge - prompt 3 Operation:Mistletoe.

IT WON!!!!!!!!!!

Due to an extremely prudish glitch affecting the boards, stories rated 6th-7th or Professors cannot be read, at the moment. For this reason I have temporarily lowered the rating, although this is really 6th-7th. You have been warned.

Fairytale of Hogwarts by Equinox Chick

Rated: 3rd-5th Years • Past Featured Story
Summary: It's Christmas Eve and Draco sits in The Hog's Head contemplating his chosen path ... and the girl he used to share his dreams with.

This song is a potterfied version of Fairytale of New York which is possibly the best Christmas song of all time. The original was sung by The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl.

I am not JK Rowling, Shane McGowan, or Kirsty MacColl.

The fabulous singer that was Kirsty MacColl died tragically eleven years ago today. R.I.P.

The Untrodden Path by Equinox Chick

Rated: 6th-7th Years • Past Featured Story
Summary: Draco Malfoy -avid Death Eater, proud and eager to be of use to the Dark Lord. Or desperate boy willing to do anything to save his family from dishonour and his father from death? Perhaps both.

What if there'd been another way? What if the road he's taking could diverge and lead him on a different journey? His path is set, he thinks... but then he collides with an insignificant girl and his world changes.

This story is for Julia (the opaleye) whose poetical skill with words leaves me breathless. It is also her 21st birthday. Apologies that I didn't use your fabulous alternate title 'An Act of Selecting or Making A Decision When Faced With Two or More Possibilities?'

Disclaimer: Much as I'd love to be JK Rowling, I'm not :(

Thank you Kara for beta'ing this and minna for mentioning the Robert Frost poem 'The Road Not Taken,' from which I've taken some lines.

** indicates lines taken from Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire.

Apple-bobbing by Equinox Chick

Rated: 6th-7th Years • Past Featured Story
Summary: Lisa Turpin - new recruit to Dumbledore's Army - is determined to prove her worth to the team. But when Ginny Weasley informs her that her patrol partner has changed, she isn't at all happy. Susan Bones is not a girl she's had much to do with, for the Hufflepuff girl has never excelled at anything.

But can an hour on patrol, and an accident with a foul smelling egg change things between them?

This story was an emergency fic for Natalie's birthday (in case I pulled the other one), but is also a Halloween tale about life under Snape and the Carrows. I have to thank Alex (welshdevondragon) for beta'ing and being AIM available for a chat.

Disclaimer: I'm not JK Rowling. You know that, don't you?

Stars or Carousels by Equinox Chick

Rated: Professors •
Summary: If you’re smart and funny, you’re popular. Add some undeniable good looks, and you become very popular.

A hero who will always get the girl.

But for James Sirius Potter, the girl he wants is unobtainable.

This is a present for Natalie (hestiajones) because not only is it her birthday, but she’s a fantabulous friend and an all round amazing person. (and I hope she doesn’t mind what I’ve done ... eeeep)

It’s possible that this pairing may squick you out. I appreciate people have different thoughts on this but advise you to keep an open mind until the end of the story.

Due to a VERY annoying glitch in the archives that won;t let readers access stories above 3rd-5th, I have TEMPORARILY lowered the rating. This story is STILL a PROFESSORS story. You click at your own risk.

Disclaimer: I am not JK Rowling, but if I were, then I’d be living in a huge house in London, with a basement, for teh flist, and buying Alex Turner especially for Natalie.

Winner of the Best Chaptered Next Generation Story in the 2012 QSQ awards. Thank you :D

Key of the Door by Equinox Chick

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: At the age of twenty, Ron Weasley has a good career, a wonderful girlfriend and a flat of his own. But when he wakes up one morning, shortly before his twenty-first birthday, nothing can quite dispel the gloomy cloud that's been stalking him.

Could a long lunch in the Leaky Cauldron rid him of this malaise?

This story has been written as a twenty-first birthday present for Hannah/Bob (coolh5000) who is one of the most wonderful people in the world.

Thank you to Natalie for beta'ing, Kara for the line about the Knight bus and Julia for the 'firecrotch'. (I hope you like Ron's revenge for the slur)

Disclaimer: I am not JK Rowling. She has the talent; I have the temerity to nick her characters.

Hey, brother by Equinox Chick

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: How desperate were the last days of Regulus Black's life? With a girlfriend in danger, and an increasing dread for his fate, he turns to the only one who can help him.

But will Sirius listen?

This poem/rap was written for the MC Kreacher challenge set by the wondrous Julia (the opaleye). I chose to base the form and feel of the rap on Stan by Eminem featuring Dido. It probably helps if you know the song, but basically there are three voices in this.

Disclaimer: JKR - nope, not me.

The Only One by Equinox Chick

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary: Victoire Weasley is in her third year studying to be a Healer. She is beautiful. She is bright. But she's alone. Since splitting up with Teddy Lupin, only one person has come close to disturbing her dreams.

Unfortunately, he happens to be the professor standing in front of her. She knows he has a partner, but she also knows that he's distracted.

This story is a prequel to my Next Gen fic High. It is not necessary to read that to understand this, but reading Lavender, blue - A Gryffindor True might help, although you should get the gist.

Happy Birthday. Ariana (lucca4) You are an incredible writer. (She also left me a shedload of reviews when I deleted the whole of High.)

Thank you, Natalie. You are a stellar beta and a wonderful friend.

Disclaimer: I am not JKR, but I make fab spag bol.

Fracture by Equinox Chick

Rated: Professors •
Summary: Theodore Nott lives his life in pieces. The various fragments of his life are tidied away under a cover of fierce intelligence and distance. But on the first of September 1994, Theo discovers he is not alone in seeing Thestrals, and his carefully compartmentalised life begins to shift.

This is Equinox Chick of Hufflepuff writing for the Great Hall Bannermaker's Challenge. The banner used was Fracture by T M Wandstick..

The rating for this is based on one particular scene, everything else is fairly mild.

Thank you Gina (gmariam) for beta'ing this story. Thank you Toni, for the banner.

Disclaimer: I am not JKR - you all know that - but I do make a damn good spag bol.

Her Tomorrows by Equinox Chick

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary: Since the Battle, Parvati struggles to feel.

Since the Battle, Harry feels too much.

Can a chance meeting help them heal?

Disclaimer: I am not JK Rowling, so don't bug me about Pottermore!

This story is for Ariana (lucca4) because she set the prompt in SBBC and she's one of the most talented writers on the site.

The Four by Equinox Chick

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: For me, the start of my grand love affair with the Potterverse didn't begin with Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. No, it started with Prisoner of Azkaban because of the Marauders. This poem is about them and my attempt at a goodbye to four people who inspired me. (Well, Peter - not so much)

Thank you, Julia, for the challenge and for teaching me about villanelles.

Disclaimer: I am not JKR, or Julia, or anyone with talent.

Monochrome by Equinox Chick

Rated: 3rd-5th Years • Past Featured Story
Summary: Remus Lupin is an outsider by the very nature of his condition. But whilst his friends dream in colour, his nights are monochrome. It doesn't disturb him much, it's just the way he is.

Then a late night conversation changes his mindset in a way that scares him and makes him wonder what he actually 'is'. He cannot feel that way - not about Sirius Black.

OMM&P This jointly won BEST SSP QSQ at the 2011 awards. Thank you. And yay for Ariana who wrote Two to Tango - the other winner.

I am not JK Rowling, in fact I'm not even sure I'm Equinox Chick at this moment ...

This story is for Gina (Gmariam) who is celebrating her 21st birthday. :) It is a measure of how much I adore her that I'm writing this pairing for her.

Thank you very much, Kara (Karaley Dargen) for beta'ing this story for me.

Thanks also for teh flist for sticking by me when I was haranguing them. I owe you.

Due to an MNFF glitch, I have lowered the rating on this to 3rd-5th so people can read it. However this is normally a Professors rating. You click at your own risk.

The Foolhardy Boys and Parvati, too by Equinox Chick

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: Staring out of her dusty office window, Parvati Patil - now running a detective agency with Seamus Finnigan and Dean Thomas - is surprised when the glamorous Karis Flint arrives. Why would a rich society woman hire such an inexperienced firm? But when Karis explains that the Cordalis Diamonds have gone missing, along with her son, they know they have to take the case. For Karis' son is Blaise Zabini, the Slytherin from their year currently involved with Lavender Brown.

With Jonah Flint threatening to call in the Law Enforcers, can they find Blaise and the diamonds before the day is out?

This is Equinox Chick of Hufflepuff and this is my entry into the Great Hall Mysterious May Challenge - Prompt #3 - The Private Detective.

I am not JK Rowling, whoever told you that defamed her dreadfully.

Thank you Hannah/Bob (coolh5000) for beta'ing this story.

All chapter titles are songs from Elvis Costello. I'm not him either.

Xanthe, Interrupted by Equinox Chick

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: Ten years after her mother's death, Luna Lovegood decides to ask her father what her mother was brewing. Unsatisfied with his reply, she turns to one of his employees, Lavender Brown, and asks for help to investigate the truth.

Lavender is unsure this is a wise course of action, but like Luna, she doesn't quite believe Xenophilius' version of events.

This is Equinox Chick of Hufflepuff and this is my entry in the Mysterious May Great Hall Challenge - prompt Extra Credit.

Disclaimer: I am not JK Rowling. That shouldn't surprise anyone.

Thank you so much, Gina (Gmariam) for beta'ing this tale and whipping Luna into shape. You are zechadly amazing!

Thank you, Natalie, for suggesting Xanthe's maiden name.

Orphans of the Storm by Equinox Chick

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary: On the run for nine months, Dean spent his time deliberately not thinking of his friends as he struggled to survive, but he could not control his thoughts at night.

In his final year, Seamus longed for release from the daily torture of the Carrows' regime.

In her room, Parvati had made a list of all the things she wished to do if she survived, but wasn’t sure she could carry it through.

After the Battle, the three of them relax by the lake.

Who knew their thoughts had been so intertwined?

Disclaimer: I am no JKR, JFK, J-Lo or whatever initials are famous.

Jess (ToBeOrNotToHaveTheLongestUserNameOnTheBoard), this is for you. Happy Birthday, mate.

Ta, lots, Gina, for the speedy beta job and Emma for the Irish help.

Who's That Girl? by Equinox Chick

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: As Head Girl, Lily Evans is used to the odd things that happen at Hogwarts. Very little fazes her – especially when it comes to the Head Boy and his gang. But when she discovers there’s a new girl at Hogwarts, who has entranced all her friends, she’s determined, along with James, to find out the identity of the mystery witch.

After all, since when has Hogwarts accepted American Exchange Students?

And just why has Peter stopped eating sausages?

Disclaimer: I am not JK Rowling and if I was I wouldn’t admit it and put my name to this piece of silliness.

This is Equinox Chick of Hufflepuff writing for the 2011 Mysterious May Challenge in the Great Hall, Prompt # 1.

I also dedicate this to all those of you who love a good MWPP cliche.

Thanks Nat-a-tat (hestiajones) for the beta job especially in the last chapter.

Zeitgeist by Equinox Chick

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: She was the Zeitgeist Girl – the face of the Spirit of the Age. Beautiful, talented and engaged to one of the most famous men in the wizarding world. Astoria Greengrass had it all – except now she was dead.

Oliver Wood, ex Quidditch professional, is the detective in charge. Tough and experienced, he can break the most hardened criminal, but how will he manage to prise information from the Malfoys?

This is Equinox Chick of Hufflepuff writing for the 2011 Mysterious May Challenge in the Great Hall, Prompt #2.

This is also Carole of a house in London writing a mystery especially for Kara, a visitor to this fair land, because it's her birthday (and not because she's the judge).

Thank you Natalie (hestiajones) for beta'ing this story.

Disclaimer: I am not JK Rowling. She would probably come up with something far more original.

All in the Genes by Equinox Chick

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: When Lily Potter is humiliated by her brother, she sees her chances of a date with the lush Greg Cadwallader disintegrate. But rather than hide away in the kitchens, she decides this time that James has gone too far. She wants revenge, but how does she get the punishment to fit the crime?

Disclaimer: I am not JK Rowling or have any drop of Weasley pranking blood in me.

This story is for Olivia (Apollonius) who likes a certain ship as much as I do, and has written the odd prank in her time. Happy Birthday!
