The Four by Equinox Chick
Summary: For me, the start of my grand love affair with the Potterverse didn't begin with Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. No, it started with Prisoner of Azkaban because of the Marauders. This poem is about them and my attempt at a goodbye to four people who inspired me. (Well, Peter - not so much)

Thank you, Julia, for the challenge and for teaching me about villanelles.

1. The Four by Equinox Chick

The Four by Equinox Chick
Each man has his own goodbye,
When twisting towards that endless night.
A cause for which the four would die.

Wandless, he stands to defy
Voldemort in all his might.
Each man has his own goodbye.

His soul destroyed by a lie,
A fluttered veil, takes the light.
A cause for which the four would die.

A gasped last breath less than a sigh,
Caged within by his own fright,
Each man has his own goodbye.

Heeding the furious battle cry,
A tolling bell, his charge to fight.
A cause for which the four would die.

The bonds of youth knotted a tie,
Unravelled by one’s need for flight.
Each man has his own goodbye;
A cause for which the four would die.
