Pounding heart and gasping breath,
I run for safety from the spells.
A long dark cloak, a hooded head --
Before his gaze, my cheeks go pale.
I raise my wand, my fingers pale;
Scared, all lessons flee my head.
He laughs and then he casts his spell.
I jump aside; take in a breath.
“Stupefy!” with shaking breath,
I say, and watch his face, death-pale.
He sends a new curse toward my head,
and blocks the jet with his own spell.
The world goes pale as he steals my breath; no longer in my own head, I fall to his spell.
