Today I Do Not Want To Be Hope
Today I do not want to be hope,
For my flame has wisped out
Upon a pool of wax,
Doused by the depths of darkness.
My cry is no longer heard,
Lost among the dying stars
And hidden in the sparks flitting
Across the battle-ground sky.
I am thrust aside by greed and fear
That manifests in the misuse of talents,
Or else Death's hand plunges into my heart
With the cruelest of dark magic.
The will to continue no longer pulses,
Petrified by all the sin and corruption
Overtaking the love and the peace.
I slowly crumble, weaker and weaker,
Against the hatred in the fiery red eyes
Of the advancing enemy
Who does not know the meaning of mercy
And laughs coldly at the prospect of me,
That ray of hope.
Today I cannot keep burning,
Choked by pain, desolation, and loss;
Unable to fight my way to the victims
For the evils of the world keep me
Locked up in Pandora's lonely box.
