Rattling breaths, screams from afar,
Despair reigning the mind,
No happiness shall be found here -
The prison of wizardkind.
Long years have passed, alone and cold,
No visitor but the moon.
An open door, a chance to flee -
Harry, I shall see you soon.
They follow quick, get close, are near,
I bolt as fast as I can.
My saviour: paws instead of feet.
The dog thus saves this man.
The water’s edge lies black ahead,
A splash - into the Sea!
I swim; no pause to catch a rest.
I swim and know I’m free.
The hours come and go right by,
I swim and do not halt,
Until I reach the shallows, bank.
Out of my breath, exalt.
Though rest I crave I have to rise,
Must move, hide out of sight.
I run along, do not look back -
‘I’m free!’ I think with might.
