Hey this is really nice. I, personally, find it hard to believe that Hermione and Snape should ever get together, but this fic was so subtle and dignified, that it was not hard at all to believe that this conversation might really have taken place. It's sooo like Hermione to mourn while others rejoice. And sooo like Snape to say that he insults people he does not like because he sees no point in continuing false politeness. You have captured the essence of their characters and cultivated it into an interesting one shot. Great!

Every day I thank God for Fred and George. Even the thought of them makes me smile. I envy their ability to keep their sense of humor even in the toughest times. They’ve stayed light-hearted and optimistic, bringing happiness back to my family when I thought I’d never see it again. I can see the grief in their eyes, sometimes, but they amaze me when their faces are full of laughter despite the pain I know they feel inside. Mum would be a basket case if it weren’t for them.
I hear Malfoy kneel down in front of me. When he starts to wrap his arms around me, I instinctively pull back, but he persists, and I find myself too drained to fight him any more. He hugs me tightly against him, and my tears soak the front of his jacket as he holds me. “I’m sorry,” I hear him whisper. “I’m so sorry.”
I forget about holding myself together for my family, and being the strong, self-controlled one. In a matter of seconds, I allow myself to cry, really cry, for the first time in a long time. I’m not thinking about the part he played in my father’s death, or the boy I knew back in school. I’m allowing myself to be comforted by one of the only people that have been able to do so since I lost my dad.
Soon, I have no more tears left. I’m so tired that I do nothing when he wipes my tear-streaked face with his thumb, and I merely watch as he stands up and rests his hand on my father’s tombstone. He closes his eyes, and I see a single tear fall from his eye before he turns around and walks away.
That was the last time I ever saw him.
OH MY GOD IN THESE TWO PARTS I ACTUALLY ABANDONED MY PIZZA AND STARTED CRYING!!!! I LOVE THIS THING ITS SO SAD AND SWEET!!! OH MY GOSH I CAN'T STOP CRYING!!
A Destiny in Time by Gmariam

Summary: Harry Potter has fulfilled his destiny, and survived his final confrontation with Voldemort; the Dark Lord has been vanquished, but at a terrible price. Dozens are dead, including some of those closest to Harry, and he blames only himself for failing them. Desperate, he returns to Hogwarts hoping to change what has happened and save those he loves. In doing so he unknowingly saves himself, but the consequences require great sacrifice.
This short story is now complete. It begins on the battlefield just after Harry’s duel with Voldemort, and follows Harry as he tries desperately to right the mistakes of the past, only to rewrite his own future.

This story was so sad, it brought tears to my eyes, but you've heard that tto many times to count now, haven't you? Still, my favorite part -the one that made me cry -was Ron and Harry's final hug too! It's just the way they'd behave if -GOD FORBID -this would really have happened.

This is great!! I read another thing like this. Have you read the fake fanfic version of DH, a long one? Well, Ron and Hermione were having a conversation where the woman got the man a gold chain for his pocket watch and he got her a barrette for her hair, but then they found out that the guy sold the watch and the owman sold her hair. But great anyways!
Author's Response: That\'s most likely right--- it was based off a prompt for \'The Gift of the Magi\', and that\'s what happened in that story, just with different items--- the story wasn\'t really about the items, just for the love the two people had to give up their most cherished possessions to be with the other. Ron shook his head slowly, not even looking at her. He was in a daze. Hermione gave him a weak smile. “You’re really taking this hard, aren’t you?” she asked him gently. She put a soft hand on his shoulder.
Ron turned to look at her with an angry and hurt expression on his face. “Hard? HARD?” he yelled. He pushed her arm away.
Hermione almost gasped. This man didn’t sound like Ron at all. She hadn’t meant to offend him in any way.

Author's Response: Yeah, that was a mistake, a few other people pointed that out as well, I just haven\'t changed it. :) And Ginny passed out cold on the floor because her parents have died. If you\'ve ever had that experience, then you most likely know how horrid, heartbreaking, etc, that is. I didn\'t convey it too great in this story, but that\'s just a small piece of grief I put in this story. Thanks for the review. ~Lindsey :)

Author's Response: Well, Ginny would have been going into her fourth year, yes . . . why wouldn\'t she have been able to? Harry fought Voldemort in his fourth year, and while Ginny is not even near as advanced as him, this should give you a broad view on what they could have used. Now that I think about it, she wouldn\'t have been able to use magic, (and actually, neither would have Harry to clean with), but I guess it still got a validation, obviously, and it slipped past my beta and I while editing. Thanks!
