Thanks so much for writing these-- your writing is wonderful, and the convincing way you write the growing relationship between these two while keeping them in character is beautiful. I hope you keep writing your alternate world of what happens to SS despite JKR's different take in The Deathly Hallows-- personally, I'm glad I read your version later, because I would prefer to think that this is how it really went. Plus, it leaves things open for more stories-- like the one about Lillian-- as opposed to the finality of what happened in DH. I don't see Harry as quite this unredeemable in his hatred for Severus, though, any more than the other way around-- maybe the two might reach some sort of grudging tolerance because of Arthur being in Gryffindor? Arthur seems like the type to bring that about, cluelessly or otherwise. An idea anyway. I like the interesting plot twist of having Harry, as head of house, responsible for a child who will always remind him of the man who was his enemy and who wound up with the girl he loved-- just like Severus had to watch over Harry all those years before. Very clever! Thank you again.

It is a rare and enjoyable thing to read an actual mystery on MNFF, and this one is really well-done. Your Fred and George interactions are also really believable, as is your writing of George in the first post-Fred year of his life, which really takes some imagination after seeing him as happy-go-lucky and constantly paired with his twin for so long. Great story.

I'm really enjoying reading this from Neville's point of view, and I like how you're actually keeping him Neville. He's very much in character. Also, turning the familiar plot-line into a slightly different one with similar episodes makes it enjoyable to read-- I want to keep reading to see what happens next to the story I already know. :)

We\'re gearing up for the climax now - the next chapter is called \'Under the Willow\', with a slight surprise at the end.

He's at HOGWARTS? Definite cliff-hanger. :) I love the mystery you have going in this story, by the way-- lots of twists and turns, and a really evocative description of the future under Voldemort.

I'm so glad you've updated this-- it's such a great story. I can't tell at all where it's going, and it has me on the edge of my seat. And the characterization is spot-on-- you really capture Harry at that stage of development, and Snape-- and it's interesting to think of Tonks in a more significant role than we ever saw in the original books. This chapter really earned the "dark/ angsty" designation, by the way.
Author's Response: I do try to update this as often as I can. The first 20-odd chapters are written, but in need of some serious polishing in places, which is harder to do than I first thought it would be. Tonks was never meant to have such a large role, but she kind of grew into it, and now I rather enjoy writing her. Hehe, and this isn't the darkest of chapters by far. Thank you again for taking the time to review - I do love to read your comments.

OK, what DON'T I like about this? :) The plot is intricate and a real page-turner, so to speak, and you have the characters of Harry and Professor Snape down perfectly rather than turning them into stereotypes or something melodramatic. You have me on the edge of my seat about what's going to happen to Harry next and what changes he's going to see in this version of the future-- and who he's going to meet. Definitely looking forward to the next installation. :)

Date: 02/18/08 Title: Chapter 1: Out of the Darkness...
Just read your second chapter-- it's very funny, but even after reading the first one for the second time, I'm in tears laughing at it. :) I love how you really build up the mood, with terrific language and imagery, and just as the reader is prepared for some more angst and drama, the great Voldemort gets run over by a cement mixer. I think the part at which I totally lost it was when Ben steps out of the vehicle, throws down the company hat (nice touch) and says something completely mundane. :)

I already reviewed this (and I love it-- so funny) but something just occurred to me-- the lovely Ron & Lavender duo occurs in 6th year. Professor Snape teaches Defense Against the Dark Arts that year (finally) rather than Potions. Just a thought.

Author's Response: Snarkyroxy\'s Before the Dawn (which can be found on Ashwinder and Owl) and Dyce\'s Accountable (which can be found on fanfiction.net) are two incredible student/teacher fics that deal very believably with the issues and are marvelous stories in their own right. But while I\'ve found a couple of good fics that take HG/SS from that angle, it\'s not one that has hooked my muse. It certainly is fraught with hurdles for an author to overcome - but then, timetravel\'s no better! *g*

I certainly never anticipated all the events and troubles that would come from me being in the wrong place at the wrong time (or maybe it was the right place at the right time?) Those events just seemed to keep galloping down so fast that there was never any time to pause, never any time to breathe.
I suppose since you've heard the news, you think you know what happened, that I turned out just like my no-good-Death-Eater-Dad, which shows that you really don't know the true story at all. So I'll tell you what really happened when Draco Malfoy's son went to Hogwarts and accidentally broke just about every rule in the book, and one or two they never thought necessary to write down.

Emrys is such a great OC and drawn in such detail, and this really alters my perception of how Draco would wind up. I love all the literary references-- and how appropriate that a medievalist would marry a wizard. Great read. :)

There are so many James & Lily stories out there, but I don't think I've seen one yet from one of Lily's friends as a middle-aged mom-- it's always either from Lily or from the boys from that year (Remus, Sirius, Severus), at least two of whom could really be argued to have never moved on much past the era of the First War because, perhaps, they lost so much. Someone who lived a regular life (not in Azkaban or waiting at Hogwarts for revenge and atonement) and who has raised at least one child of her own for nearly two decades should have a different perspective. This should be very interesting! :)

I agree- characters like Sirius and Severus have not moved past old rivalries and conflicts, and they\'re likely to have a biased, somewhat one-sided view on the matters. Though, the story itself aren\'t going to be only what Stella\'s telling him in her words as an adult, but all of her experiences from that time period, though she\'ll probably only directly tell Harry the things that pertain to his parents. Wow, that was a terrible sentence >.>Hopefully, the story will live up to your expectations!

As before, this is very interesting, and I love the historical twists to it. This seems to be a time in the Wizarding past that doesn't get much attention in fan-fiction (in my limited experience thereof), and you do a great job creating the scenes and fleshing out the characters.

This is really well-written, but it just seems extremely out-of-character for Lily in every respect. Your writing is great, but I just don't believe the underlying premise at all-- Lily comes off in the books as someone with a great deal of character and backbone, and sneaking around having a tempestuous affair and then having an abortion to cover it seem utterly OOC.

This is beautifully written and philosophical about the meaning of time travel and the nature of self, which gives it an interesting spin. The meeting of the two at different ages is an almost chilling thought when you consider what the younger doesn't know and what the elder has to go through, and I like how you keep dropping hints about the mysterious sender of Kreacher.

Quick question-- is she planning on making an antidote to Nagini's poison to save Snape? Because I was fairly sure that he dies from loss of blood. I think Nagini bites him in the neck for a reason-- based on DH, it sounds like he's bleeding out from the carotid arteries, which would not only be massive blood loss, but also would cut off the blood supply to the brain. Not to mention that someone that smart and good at potions would probably have had the good sense to keep an antidote around. Sorry to be so Muggle and pedestrian about it, but I think he needs a blood replenishment potion or something of that ilk. Other than that... Viva Snape, and this should be interesting. :)
Author's Response: :) She does give him a Blood Replenishing Potion. However, if you remember, Nagini\'s bite (and essentially her venom) stopped Mr. Weasley\'s wounds from closing up, so before any Blood Replenishing Potion could be administered, Rose would have to have an antidote for the poison. Next chapter explains it all, and it is already in the queue.
