A Few Detentions and A Story by LaneTechFreshie
Rated: 3rd-5th Years •Summary: James Potter: Marauder. Lily Evans: Prefect. They're both seventh years at Hogwarts. They're also about to have a pretty interesting year--complete with a few detentions, pranks, confusion, and laughter--in which they get through school, make some trouble and maybe, just maybe, sort out their feelings for each other.
Thanks to all you who have made it possible for this story to be in the Top Tens. It was a very happy moment when I first saw my story on the list, and I love being able to go back and see it there now. Still. Yay!
Throughout the latter half of 2010, and the first half of 2011, I re-edited this story. The changes were mostly to fix stray (and annoying) grammar and spelling errors, but also to rework some plot points in an effort to stay truer to canon. I also updated the style; having written this story so long ago, my writing has definitely developed (and I would say gotten better), so I edited to reflect that. (I apologize for the errors that were in the story before all this editing. I found them immensely distressing when I reread my chapters. Heartbreaking, really.)
Big “thank yous” go to the three people who helped edit/nitpick the first edition of this novel: violagirl, fairiesandcream, and Omagus.

It sooo lived up to the expectations, the Kirsty and Regulus scene was mind-blowing. At first, I thought you was going to let her give up! So I was practically dancing when her Kirtsy-ness came through.
I absolutely love the Regulus characterization, his jealously of his brother and rivalry with him. But also him being very evil now :)
Great job, I mean I'm finding hard to say how great it was. As always, you leave me longing for the next part. Yes, I am wondering if they tell the Marauders, and Sirius' reaction !

UPDATE February '08: I have changed the chapter names of some of the 'Defied' chapters, to make this fit and to make it more plausible, as I see the 'thrice defying' of Voldemort as happening when James and Lily are part of the Order of the Phoenix.
UPDATE 20th September: I have altered my facts in the chapter 'Once Defied' as I made mistakes in the ages of James and Lily. It didn't matter so much in this chapter but had annoying repercusions for future chapters. It should all now be correct.

Follow the Marauders through seven years at Hogwart's, with appearances from the infamous Black sisters, Lucius Malfoy, Regulus Black, and of course the one and only Severus Snape.
There are a bunch of pairings in this story (although romance is not necessarily the central theme) to include James/Lily, Lucius/Narcissa, a splash of Lucius/Bella and unrequited Snape/Lily, and finally, plenty of Sirius/OC. Enjoy!

Author's Response: Thank you! When I started this, I don't think I was going to let her secret out until the very end, but that didn't seem to make sense and this works so much better! You're right, the story will become more interesting. I hated having to kill off Sirius, but it has to happen :( He's one of my favorite characters and I wish Lyra had known him longer so there would have been more scenes with him. Anyway, glad you liked this one!

i like the fact that she is so much like bellatrix and constantly uses bellatrix's signiture curse when she is angry. And i am sensing that she is going to try and find out as much about her mother as she can but i still can not figure out what may happen in the end i have been thinking about it but i am completely stuck! I guess that i will just have to wait for another update. Fantastic writing by the way you always amaze me with each update.

She is going to find out as much about her mother as she can--that's actually the main focus of part three :) When I started this story even I wasn't exactly sure where it would go and how the end would be, but it worked out--however, it's quite a long way off and a lot of things will unfold between now and then!
