Hello! My name is Maddy, and getting to know me often results in one or more of the following:
-Long-winded explanations of minute details involving any and all things to do with Harry Potter
-A rather strange fear of sugar consumption (generally when I'm the one who's consuming the sugar)
-A strong and imminent desire to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
-The sudden urge to mess with the forces of the space-time continuum, jump into another dimension, and randomly begin speaking rapid, fluent French, all while munching on a scrumptious tidbit of Port Salut cheese
And while this may seem odd, I cherish a passion for meticulously editing everything I see. Except for JKR's brilliance, naturally.
Ciao!
I don't quite know what to say, except that this made me cry. And I would say that's a good thing.
So whatever happened to chapter 13?
Ahhhhh! I'm terribly desperate to discover what will happen. This is simply incredible, not to mention artistically written.
Well, I'm speechless. When I first started reading this (which was a few hours ago, by the way), I found your plot completely unbelievable, what with LILY EVANS ending up in a prison that wasn't even Azkaban. But this little voice in the back of my head convinced me to keep reading, and I'm thrilled that I did. You did a wonderful job of developing your characters' personalities, and I was legitimately upset by the time Shannon died. I had no idea Remus felt so strongly about her, and I was feeling his pain.
I would love to see what happens between Sirius and Isabel, as well as between James and Lily now that she's mad at him for the umpteenth time. Terrific work, post soon please :].
Author's Response: Thanks so much for your review! I have worked very hard at character development, and I'm glad to know it was a success.
I'm curious to see where this goes, so please update soon! Your writing is quite similar to JKR's...
That was certainly my most favorite James&Lily fic that I've ever read. I can't even put into words what I'm feeling right now. I've been shocked by your story, put to tears by it far more than once, waiting and waiting, always, on the edge of my seat, to find out what happens next. And now that it's finally over, after all this time, I can't even express myself properly! It was just so beautiful... and the dialogue between Grace and Peter in this chapter was excellently done. I can just see it playing out. I love the way Grace turned out, and how she knew to put Peter in his place. But most of all, I love how James and Lily's relationship gradually developed through crisis and sorrow. It was beautiful. Well done!
Author's Response: Thank you so much -- that's such high praise! I'm glad you liked how Lily and James's relationship developed and also that you were kept on the edge of your seat . . . I was a little nervous at how my attempts at making for suspense would work :) Oh, and I'm especially glad you liked this chapter's conversation between Peter and Grace -- I rewrote that scene at least three or four times! Thanks again!
It's Voldemort's world now: a world of corruption, betrayal, greed, and violence. A world of evil thoughts and evil deeds, where no one can be trusted, especially those closest to you.
But through it all, there must be strength. There must exist those who will stand up to totalitarian rule, who will say no when others submit, who must survive despite their condition. There must exist the resilient.
Eventual Draco/Hermione with plenty of plot. Very dark, so read at your own risk!
I think my heart just ripped in two and my soul will never be okay with the world again unless this isn't seriously a permanent goodbye.
On a brighter note, you have the most haunting, beautiful writing and it amazes me how well-thought out and cohesive your storyline is. I've been following your writing since this fic's predecessor and my heart as ached for Draco and Hermione so many times.
Please don't let this be the end for them. I might just need to go question everything otherwise.
Author's Response: Gah, sorry about the heart tearing thing. I don't want to say it's a hobby but all things considered... Heh. And there will be an epilogue (I'm starting to think that maybe I should've mentioned that in the author's note...) so I can hopefully give you some closure, if nothing else. Thank you so much for reading and reviewing!!
He died! He died! Oh my Godric, I simply must know what happens next!
Author's Response: :D Soon enough! Thanks for reading!
I have followed this story ever since the beginning of its predecessor, and I've been absorbing this one in an extremely obsessed fashion. This epilogue brought me to tears - their love is so different and I admire that. And I really admire your work; this was spectacular writing. Thank you for continuing and completing this; I don't believe I could have lived had Hermione and Draco not come back together at last.
Author's Response: Thank you!! I was tempted to make this a tragedy, but I've fallen in love with these characters (despite being so cruel to them...) and I couldn't bear the thought of them living life alone.
Absolutely brilliant. By the way, Voldemort's knowledge regarding Cortes really made my day! The depth to which you have taken this plot seems unimaginable, yet so real.... The fountain of youth? So ingenious. And yet Voldemort is still in character... Love it!
Author's Response: Thank you!! I'm glad I got Voldy right!
As usual, I loved this chapter.
One thing - are Draco & Hermione together now? Or just unofficially so? They did start snogging and not care about it xD. Just curious!
Author's Response: Draco addresses this somewhat in the next chapter, which is in the queue. Thanks, Jenny
Oh, a cliffie! I am so excited to know what happens next, but then, I always say that! And I'm glad you addressed the lingering question about their current relationship as I asked, it was very well done:).
Author's Response: There are a few more chapters that leave you in suspense, but not too much, I hope. Glad you liked the relationship clarification. I have to warn you, I'm carrying that issue forward in my sequel, so you won't get 100% satisfaction here. Thanks, Jenny
I get ever so excited when I see your latest chapter at the top of the page! As horrible as it may seem, I was silently cheering when Hermione and Ron broke up. I immediately felt miserable for Hermione but at the same time, I was hoping that Draco would offer her support and that she would accept it - and it happened! Oooooh my goodness, update soon please(:! I love your writing.
Author's Response: Thank you for your kind words. I'm so happy to hear you are enjoying the story. The next chapter is in the queue -- should be up soon. --Jenny
Oh YAY, I was ever so thrilled when I refreshed the page and saw the latest chapter! Argh Ron.... I was so happy that Hermione kissed Draco this time and then didn't go off with Ron. Hermione and Draco are so lovely together ;). I can't wait for the next chapter, you write beautifully!
Author's Response: Thanks for your positive feedback. I'm glad you are enjoying the various interactions I'm writing for JKR's characters. The next chapter is in the queue, so you shouldn't have to wait long. --Jenny
Oh, I've been refreshing the "most recent" page every half hour to check if you'd updated. I love your story (I can't believe I've resisted the urge to review until now!) and I love your portrayal of Draco. Some people just show him as a somehow automatically reformed individual who is incredibly romantic/perfect in every way, but you actually took the time to develop his character. Including his apologies to Hermione also made this seem much more accurate and realistic. He is such a sweetheart, I hope Hermione ditches Ron soon... I was never a fan of Ron, even before I started reading fanfiction ;). Good work, and good luck on future chapters; I'm excited and eager to read more!
Author's Response: Thank you so much for your very thoughtful review. In real life, at least with the books, I am a HG/RW shipper. But somehow I find it easier to write about Draco. I'm working hard to have Draco evolve based on his wartime experiences, but at the same time be consistent with who he was pre-war. I'm glad it's working for you! --Jenny
I'm a tad concerned about her openness as well, but I understand your explanation. However - and I really don't mean to sound nitpicky or anything - Hermione's birthday is in September. I apologize, that was peevish of me. Anyway, I really like this, and I'm eager to discover where the story is going to go! :)
Author's Response: Thanks for the review! Ugh, I'm an idiot! I swear, I knew that Hermione's birthday was in September, but I guess that I just forgot when I wrote this. Thanks for pointing that out. I might just have to fix that. I didn't know that the "openness issue" was going to be a big deal, but I suppose that I might just have to fix that as well. As long as it improves my story, I do not mind making changes. What I don't get is why the mods didn't catch this stuff.... Oh well. However, I am very glad that you are enjoying the story so far. As I said in response to the other review, the second chapter is in the queue waiting to be validated, so you will soon find out what happens next!
And yet another lovely chapter! I'm fascinated by how they both think they're underestimating each other. By the way, I happen to agree with your note on Ron, haha. Nice work!
Author's Response: Thanks for another lovely review! It's good to know that someone else has the same opinion of Ron as me. I thought that people would hate me for bashing Ron, but I guess that since this is a Tom/Hermione fic, we don't have many devout Ron/Hermione shippers or Ron-lovers reading this story. :)
Because I mentioned the "openness" issue before, I decided to point out that after reading chapter 2, it wasn't a problem at all :). Terrific work!
Also, I loved this chapter, so much. I always wanted to read an account of how all the stuff the Trio never heard about came to be (like the Taboo, and Thicknesse's loyalty). Update soon! :D
Author's Response: Thank you for another wonderful review! I will definitely update soon. Actually, I think that I'll put chapter 4 into the queue right now. (Both chapter 4 and 5 are already written, but that's about it....) I am glad that chapter 2 made the "openness issue" a non-issue, because I was a tad concerned about the plausibility, and I am also happy that you think that I did a terrific job with it. :)
Hehehehehe. I think, by the time you finish writing, I will have submitted a plethora of reviews.
But I've got to say, I never saw this coming (Hermione taking on an alias and trying to trick Tom like how she did). I did read the plot summary, but this isn't what I expected, and frankly, I'm amazed. I'm permanently waiting to know what happens next; I'm so glad you update quickly! :]
Author's Response: Oh my god! Thank you so much!!! You officially just made me blush (and, believe me, my whole face turns bright, bright red when that happens since my skin is pale, and it's rather unattractive. lol)! Unfortunately, after this next chapter, updates will not be as frequent as they are now. Chapter 5 is the last chapter that I have written for this story so far, and I have other stories that I'm working on, too. You have no idea how much I procrastinate (well, now you do...). I first posted this story on FFN on 4/28/09, so it's been about a year and a half, and I have written five chapters. As I said before, I have other stories that I have been working on as well, so it's not just procrastination that is the issue. However, I will definitely update as quickly as possible (after chapter 5). Expect an update a day or two from now! :)
Oh my gosh, this was so beautiful! I always feel so sorry for Remus; he wants more than anything to fit in but certain situations just make that incredibly difficult for him.
Author's Response: Thank you! x
