VV, thanks for everything! You are the most spectacular Beta a girl could ask for
Speaking of who, everyone should be reading everything by Vindictus Viridian. There is an spectacular fic by her called 'In the Eyes of Others' that is an in-depth very canon-like history of Severus Snape. It will make you laugh, cry, wince in pain and hate Lucius Malfoy more than you ever have or, if you go that way, love him even more. It's really quite a brilliant Opus that she's got going on. And if you're the kind of person who reads things because other authors you like recommend them (and I assume you're reading my profile because you like something I've written), then you should run to go read it. Now!
For those looking for author's recs, I'd personally check out the following one-shots first:
It's Easy
With You in Your Dreams
Return to Grimmauld Place
Mastering the Maze
Seasons of love
Summer Letters
The Phoenix Speaks
Come Hell
The Wolf
Founders Four
The End of the World
I am now absolutely speechless. Really. There is no reason why you can't develop this (except for time) in the way i told you before. Really. (ooh, you made me use the same word twice, see how much this impressed me?) I'm beyond words.
WHEN ARE YOU POSTING THE NEXT CHAPTER?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Author's Response: NEVER! I'M SO SORRY!
you are absolutely my favorite fic writer! i nearly fell off my chair the first time i read this and i've read it so many time since that i just had to comment. Why don't you finish any of your fics? You are classic and hilarious. I love it! (and i love how EVERYONE thinks of Molly as their mother.) PLEASE continue flatmates!!!!!!!
Author's Response:
Author's Response: Kindest review I've ever recieved. Thank you! It makes me triply sad now that Lupin/Tonks exists and I can't find inspiration for fanfiction anymore.
I decided that I was going through all your fics and then realized that this was the only other S/R one. I almost cried! Oh well...onto the review
I would have to say the thing that hit me about this chapter was how absolutely different it is from my own version of the night of the prank and what happens after it. (I'd love for you to read it, but there's still one or two more chapters to go through first.)
I think you have a great mix between the humor and the seriousness. Sirius-ness to, once we're at it. I really do think that you kept them quite in character. And I hate Lupin the square, so, nice to see that you let him have a sense of humor.
I would suggest that you use a spell-checker (sorry; the repressed writing teacher in me emerges) or, if you are using it, to stop. Because, if you don't, a)you will never learn how to spell and b) you won't get corrected when you use a--dang, what's the word you use for words that sound the same but mean different things? Like to, too and two? Anyway, the spell checker won't correct those.
That is all! Can't wait to go through the rest!
Author's Response: The words you're talking about are called homophones. Thanks oodles for reading and reviewing my fics!
I've left a review on every single one of your other fics and I figured that I'd better come back and leave a review on the one that made me start to begin with: This is a spectacular work of fiction. There is not a moment of down time in the story and I love the bantering between Severus and Remus; amazing! In addition, it is by far THE SINGULARLY sexiest thing I have ever read in my life (and I've read quite a bit.) I hope that we'll get to see some more of their married life together. Bravo!
Well, you have quite the interesting story over here. You're really doing with Remus what Vindictus Viridian did with Snape. Amazing. While I did find a bit of Sue-ness and cliched moments throughout the story, I really do think that you've set yourself up to complete something that could be wonderful.
I just have to ask: are you going to be turning this into a Remus/Sirius fic? Perfectly understandable if that isn't your intent or cup of tea, but the way you've written them here...it would just work brilliantly! I wish that you'd consider it...
Author's Response: First off, just let me say thank you so much. Any comparison whatsoever to VV is a huge compliment. Of course, I realize I have a much easier task than she took upon herself. Making Remus special is a great deal easier than Snape. But I’ll take the compliment and run with it anyway. In regards to the Sue-ness and clichés, I know. I can only say that part of it comes no doubt from inexperience as a writer, and particularly, a writer of fanfiction. I simply didn’t (and still don’t) know how to get where I want to go without it. I hope to look back on the earlier chapters when all is said and done and see if there are ways to work it so that it isn’t quite so annoying. lol There probably are. Of course, I must admit, I rather enjoy some of the clichés :*) This venture started as a way to entertain myself while I got my walk in, pure escapism. Of course, I take it a bit more seriously now that I have a little following of readers, so I do consider those annoyances a little more these days. But anyway…thank you. I hope my readers are satisfied once it is completed. I may write it to entertain myself, but I do feel a sense of responsibility to those who read.
Remus/Sirius? LOLOL According to a certain friend of mine…(you know who you are!) this already is Remus/Sirius. *dies* But, as I keep telling her, I couldn’t write slash if I tried. (Apparently, I’m pretty good at it when I don’t try, though. O.o) So if I did try to take it in that direction, you’d only be disappointed. ;-) But my friend is quite a pesterer, so I have mentioned that I might, someday, write an alternate chapter or two, for her eyes only. I think I know where the story could deviate from its course, but the bunny would have to grow into more of a wild hare before I could bring myself to do it. I’m afraid slash is a phenomenon I’m not really comfortable with. But if I did, and she didn’t think it was a total flop, I might email it to you. Just don’t hold your breath. At the rate I’m going, it could be years before I finish the story as planned! LMAO!
Okay, yet another response that is twice (five times) as long as the review. I think I *talk* too much. I should probably open a thread in the dueling Club on the forums instead of taking up so much space in my review pages. So I’ll shut up now. But thank you, Slian Martreb. I really appreciate your wonderful and thoughtful review.
How absolutely lovely! I don't quite know what else to say!
Serves the boys right, doesn't it? Spectacular story as always. When can we excpect a sequel to 'Nobody Told me there'd be Days Like These?" (I know, I know, I should have read them in order. But...*shrugs*)
Brilliant as always. I loved the 'Boy who Lived and Lived and Lived." Hilarious. Going to read the wedding now....
Absolutely classic! I loved every one of the stories in this series! Bravo! Especially liked the bit about Krum and Severus's parts/wands. he he he.
Ah. A floor plan. That is absolutely classic! Brilliant chapter, as always and I can't wait for Chapter Nine. (Just out of curiosity, how many more chapters can we expect? You said something about getting closer to the end....) Actually, I'm almost happy it was Padma; I was terrified to read it with a warning of character death....You wrote the death beautifully!
Author's Response: Hehehe... I didn't want to take any chances. HP fans are sticklers for detail, so I wanted to make sure I had an accurate depiction of Kings Cross. As for Padma's death, it probably affected me more to write than anyone else was affected reading it. My worst fear is losing my sister, and I wrote out Parvati's reaction according to how I would feel in that situation. As I mentioned in another response, I cried writing it.
So yeah, we're getting close to the final show-down. Considering the loose ends that have to be tied up, Voldemort and Harry's final duel, certain resolutions that follow thereafter, and, of course, the epilogue, I can safely say that there will be a total of 12 or 13 chapters. Thanks so much, as always, for your supportive comments :) and I look forward to the next installment of "Another Side of the Story"!
I still think that Snape is good (Three cheers for Alan Rickman) but i also think that Draco is going to DIE DIE DIE! in the last book. Can't wait for the next chapter to come through! You're doing great!
Author's Response: Hahaha... So, you've got something against Mr. Malfoy, eh? Just a wild guess ;). Glad you enjoyed the chapter and thanks again - Chapter 4's in the queue!
I am a moron for reading the reviews before the chapter. Crud, crud, crud and MORE crud. *scurries to read*
V, this was absolutely FRAKING AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I dont' think that I can wait for the next chapter! *wail* I have absolutely no criticism for this chapter (sound familiar) except for one itty bitty, teeny tiny thing: Bella is Sirius's cousin, not Tonks's. She's Tonks's aunt, actually. SORRY!!!!!! Really hate to say anything negative about your stuff. THIS WAS SPECTACULAR! I WAS ON THE EDGE OF MY SEAT!
Author's Response: Oh my gosh... Holy mackeral... HOW DID I MISS THAT? Thanks so much Slian Martreb for your awesome review and for giving me that heads up! Off to fix it...
Author's Response: Update: Mission accomplished.
'Like a tide of red death..." *shiver*
Lots of lovely action, suspense and blood! re: great chapter!
Hmm, that made me sound like a four year old, didn't it, V? Heh. Sorry.
A quick comment: unless I missed something, you seem to make out that taking the Wolfsbane leaves the werewolf as human. Again, unless I missed something, the only thing the potion does is allow the werewolf to curl into a ball a harmless wolf to wait out the three days. *am confused* Did I miss something?
Author's Response: *blushes* It was rather bloody, wasn't it? I'd hate to think how people will handle the next chapter. It's not gory, per se, it's just... well, you'll see ;). As for the Wolfsbane Potion - Hermione actually corrects him in the following line. Harry says what he does because he forgets that Wolfsbane only takes care of half the problem - Hermione fills in the rest by mentioning the Homorphus Spell. I admit, the scene was originally misinformed and what you read there is a quick fix - hopefully I'll get back to it and make it a little smoother. As always, thanks so much for your supportive comments - I really do look forward to them :).
Have I told you yet that you're a doll? *big hug* When is the next chapter coming!
Author's Response: LOL! *yay, warm fuzzies* The next chapter is about 3 paragraphs from completion - It's about 12:32 am and I'm determined to finish it tonight! So far, it's a doozy...
Sorry for clogging up your page, but why haven't you been back to review mine? *pouts* I could use some advice as well, you know....
Author's Response: *Runs like a mad, crazy person over to Slian Martreb's fabulous fic...*
Really liked the whole chapter. Opening bit of him by the lake is...i don't know...a bit overdone. Not like Harry at all. Actually it is like Harry, but not at all in the way he would have thought about it. (Does that make any sense to you?) Anyway, really liked it, love the image of Ron snoozing with Hermione beside him. So sweet. I hate that you think Ginny and Harry would be uncomfortable around one another. Not the way i see it at all, but you're the one writing it, right? Great on the 'Squib's Guide btw.) Can't wait for the next chapter!
Author's Response: I'm inclined to agree about the prologue, but I had no idea how to catch everyone up on what happened the whole first part of the year without biting the bullet and writing it out from Day 1. Maybe I'll play around with it and see what happens. Anyhoo, Harry and Ginny are loosely based on personal experience - a mutual break-up even though you're still completely in love -- not good times and your mind tends to always be somewhere else. *sigh* Thanks for reviewing!!
I saw that you finally updated and just HAD to drop a line to tell you how excited I am: I AM SO EXCITED!!!!! Lol. Can't wait for it to go through....I'm sitting on tenterhooks!
YAY and BRAVO! This chapter was worth the wait and well done. Looks like you didn't need my help after all. I can't wait for chapter three. Bravo on your dialogue; you stayed very true to both characters and i loved it. Iknow you mentioned elsewhere not to stay stuck on Snape being good but i, for some reason, believe to the marrow of my bones (!) that he's good. Really. (and as another reviewer said, means we get to see Alan Rickman later on. So glad he didn't die. Love the development of it! But i digress.) Umm....lol. Oh, right. I guess that if Dumbledore thought he was good, so do i, and i LOVE the whole thing of Harry realising that just like he had to do things to Dumbledore that he hadn't wanted to, Snape might have had to as well. And even though i don't much believe that Harry is a Horcrux, you pulled it off well. Bravo again!
Author's Response: Oh yes, yes, yes... LOVE Alan Rickman. Again, Snape has some surprises in store ahead (simply DYING to spill the beans, but I'll hold my tongue!)... we'll have to see what happens. So happy you enjoyed the chapter - Chapter 3 is in the queue :)
