1. plains distant and remote by Noldo [ - ] (1130 words)
Written for wanderlight in springtime_gen (a Livejournal fic exchange); beaten into shape by allie_meril and avendya; re-mangled in the end by me.

The title is shamelessly lifted from a poem by Rainer Maria Rilke, who I fangirl in an obsessive manner; the newspaper headline quoted in section one is a real one.

The 'Weekly World News' is, in fact, an American newspaper (I use the term lightly!), but I'm reasonably certain that I remember reading a copy in England in the nineties. At any rate, it is very much the sort of thing that Sirius would be highly amused by, even if he would shake his head despairingly at the insanity of Muggles.
