What can I say. I live in London and am obsessed with a teenage wizard and his friends. Am I mad? Probably Do I care? Hell no!
EDIT: Grown? Um, probably not

For my first foray into the realms of fanfiction I've chosen to write about the Marauders. I'll always stick fairly closely to canon as I think JK knows best. Although I've enjoyed reading about other ships I, personally, don't think I could write with conviction about Ginny/Crabbe or Hermione/Mclaggan relationships.

EDIT: ha ha ha ha ha - How I have changed! I'm now firmly in the rare-pair, SSP, and things that aren't quite conventional camp, although I still loves me some James/Lily.

My second chaptered fic (Apparently Asleep) has started a love affair with Tonks/Remus and confirmed my obsession for all things Sirius. *sigh*

I am indebted to Terri (mudbloodproud) for being a great beta and all round amazing person. If it hadn't been for her encouragement I would have thrown in the towel many months ago.

EDIT: I have made a lot of wonderful friends during my past three years on MNFF, including (in no particular order) Natalie, Kara, Hannah/Bob, Jess, Gina, Lea, Lori, Julia, Minna, Emmahhhh, and the fantabulous BB.

I hope Mugglenet and you enjoy reading my words as much as I've enjoyed writing them. Huge thank-you to my niece, Amanda, for being one of the first to catch the Harry Potter bug and nagging me into reading them.

I’ve written a variety of stories, so here is them arranged in categories. Some are cross- referenced. So a James/Lily may appear in Marauder or Canon Romance

EDIT: I haven't written much Harry Potter fanfiction for a while. It is unlikely I'll update the two chaptered fics I first started as they became a little too long and unwieldy. Sorry about that.

The Butterfly Factor by Tim the Enchanter

Quidditch games are won and lost by combinations of the aforementioned factors.

But what about butterflies?

Reviewer: Equinox Chick Signed

Hmm, before I start on the review, let me echo your sentiments regarding Bellatrix and Dolohov. Quite frankly, though, if JK was serious about the choice between the Lupins and Arthur, I wish she'd left Molly a widow (OOH, that's harsh!)- much as I love the Muggle lover. However, I'm not here to discuss DH, but to review your story. Grrr! someone didn't like that bit and deleted the rest of the review so start again...

Great story. I loved the flow of the game. It seemed effortless (I aways find Quidditch hard to write so kudos to that). You small details about the Hawaiians (brightly coloured, ukeleleys, the Samoan Beater and the fact that they just seemed so much more laid back than England (who just seem to be a bunch of sore losers like their footballing counterparts) made me root for the Islanders. The fact that their Seeker was so rubbish just made it funnier.

Enjoyable story and a pleasure to review. Happy Easter! Carole xxx

PS Sympathy for your mate. I got a fly in my eye and that was pain beyond all imagining. The little git didn't survive though.

Author's Response:

Greetings, Carole! Thanks for reading, enjoying, and reviewing this story! Also, thanks for commenting on my profile – I haven’t updated it in about half a year, and I think I need to do something about that…

Also, I’m glad you liked the flow of the story – the present tense is tricky to write with sometimes, so I like knowing that I’ve succeeded. As for Hawaii, I can’t remember why I picked them as the opposing team – I think it was just the first place that popped into my head! And really, what’s the rush to get the Snitch anyway…?

“Howzit, brah? Howz da eye? Dat baddahfly look hurt! I wen tink you maki die dead!”

“Was that English?”

Anyway, thanks again for reviewing. As for the actual butterfly incident, it happened several years ago, and we consider it a joke and a very good conversation starter now – it’s rather funny to see how people react when I say one of my friends was “attacked by a butterfly and broke both of his wrists.” Also, my sympathies for your own eye-and-insect accident. My Dad actually got a wasp in his eye when he was in Guatemala, and then he walked into a tree branch that poked his other eye…

A Good Shag by DragonDi

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: An unexpected mission has Sirius teasing Remus about his standards--which leads Remus to do something even more unexpected. (Contains sexual innuendo--but with a title like that, what else would you expect?)
Reviewer: Equinox Chick Signed

I've just added this story to my favourites. I came upon this, purely by accident, whilst perusing the Remus/Tonks fics for something to recommend. This is so funny yet wonderfully in character. The way they're taking their first steps towards their rocky relationship is beautiful. I have to say, also, that I thought your Kingsley was great and Sirius, wow, it's fabulous to have him laughing and not brooding. Great Job!

Carole xxx

Author's Response: You have, without a doubt, made my day a brighter one! I love to hear that people think the characterisations are done well--especially since so many of the Grimmauld Place fics have a brooding Sirius. But I just can't see Sirius and Remus being together long without some kind of laughter happening. After all, sometimes laughter is all you have left! Thanks for the review and thanks for letting me know you added it to your favourites! Diane

Growing Pains by starscribe

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: It is the Marauders’ fifth year at Hogwarts, and friendships are being tested. Sirius has run away from his family and is struggling with the consequences. Severus desperately tries to hold on to Lily’s affection as James attempts to gain it. Then Sirius plays a dangerous prank on Severus, and everyone must decide where their loyalties lie…and how much friendship really means to them.

This has been such a wonderful story and what an amazing ending. Of course I knew James would forgive him but you kept the suspense going and when he finally did it brought a tear to my eye. I LOVED the fact that you brought Lily in as the one having a go at James. And Sirius is such a tortured, insecure individual.

Very sad this is the last chapter though *pouts*. It's been such a good read.

Well done!

To His Muse: A Wizarding Tale of a Desperate Housewife by mrsmcclnt, Viv

Rated: Professors •
Summary:

From Chapter 3 : Foolishness

Arthur sighed deeply. He released Molly then slowly rubbed his eyes. Without looking at her, he said: “You may not know this, but from the moment I met you, I knew I wanted to spend my life with you. I may not be the most handsome man with the brightest smile, or a rich lord who can give you the most beautiful gifts, but I would give my life for you if I had to. I love you, Molly, more than anything, more than anyone; but if it’s him you want, I guess there’s nothing I can do.”

It started as a simple research for his new book and another opportunity to increase his fortune. Never would he have believed to fall in love on the way. She was so different from other women he knew, so true. He couldn’t just let her disappear from his life. He had to be with her. No matter what.

A Gauntlet 6 submission

For Slytherin House

Team: Viv (Molly Weasley) & Mrsmcclnt (Gilderoy Lockhart)

Reviewer: Equinox Chick Signed
Date: 04/16/09 Title: Chapter 6: Epilogue: To His Muse

First off, I want to say thank you for asking for this to be reviewed. I really doubt I would have ever read this story otherwise. Gilderoy and Molly – well who’d have thought it? It seemed as though this was going to be a total joke of a story. I imagined that it would just be about Molly fantasizing about him. Then, I read the summary properly and thought WOW! This isn’t a joke.

You have both made this pairing totally plausible. Initially Gilderoy comes across as a joke (like he is in COS) and you can see why Molly thinks he’s such an idiot. But her heart thaws when it’s obvious that he’s quite helpless. She is, after all, a tender hearted woman – we see it time and time again in the books – so that was very believable. Also, raising seven children and having a husband – that while lovely is also rather dull – you can see why she’d occasionally long for some romance and passion in her life. But ultimately she knows her duty and won’t leave Arthur or her children. Gilderoy’s line about leaving Arthur money to take care of the children goes to show how unsuitable he really is. He may love Molly but he really has no idea about her.

I thought the sex scene was very well done. Not crude, silly or overly descriptive, but you cleverly showed the passion between them. A hard scene to write so kudos to that!

The epilogue was very touching and Molly, oh, for a moment I thought she was going to remember but no, the memory charm held.

The only thing I didn’t quite understand (so perhaps I need to re-read more thoroughly) is how Lockhart kept the story out of the papers. But that’s a minor nit pick.

One of the most amazing things about this story is that although it’s co-written, both parts blend seamlessly together. It could have been written by one person. It’s not that your writing styles are exactly the same – but they compliment each other flawlessly.

Wonderful story. I never thought I’d feel sorry for Gilderoy, but there was a part of me sighing for the poor foolish, vain, selfish – but ultimately selfless – man.

Long Lost Lupine Laugh by luinrina

Date: 12/22/08 Title: Chapter 1: Long Lost Lupine Laugh

Bine, I adore this story. You have totally captured Remus’ dilemma and the agonizing he must have gone through before accepting the position of DADA Professor. I think Dumbledore is very sneaky, not telling him exactly who the competent Potions Master is. *grins*.

I love the scene in the forest where he’s wrestling with Padfoot and the way that ties in at the end when he decides to take the Hogwarts Express to protect Harry is just wonderful.

The stag standing at the forest edge and the rat sitting on one of a bush’s branches, hidden from view, as well as the spring’s full moon were the only witnesses of one of the wolf’s happiest moments in its life.

I will protect your son, Prongs,’ he swore himself while dragging his trunk through the lively crowd. ‘I will not let Sirius anywhere near him.’ This time, the wolf would defeat the dog, no matter what it took. Oh, and a tiny nit pick. I think it should be he swore to himself.

Your descriptive language is second to none *envy* from the Forest scenes to him messing up his breakfast – I was totally captivated. Of course, for someone like Remus, with so little money, burning his breakfast really is a big deal.

Superb story.

Carole xxx

Author's Response: *grins with Carole* Thank you, lovely, for the comments and compliments. I'm proud of the descriptions I'm capable of; I see them as my forte. And yeah, I believe it should be "swore to himself". I'll go correct it. *hugs*

Runner up QSQ - Best Chaptered Canon Romance

Reason for Nomination:
This is the most unique take on how James and Lily really got to know each other. The story is hilarious and keeps you laughing throughout, but it never lets you forget the serious stuff. Plus, she somehow manages to end each chapter with a nice cliffhanger.

Oh, WOW! That was such a great chapter. I could not work out what the hell was wrong with James and then, halfway through, a lightbulb went off in my brain. Honestly, the way you dealt with their conversation was just brilliant. I love how their relationship is developing and I'm rather glad that Remus didn't snog 'Lily'.

I loved the reality check that James got from reading her diary.

I love Scrubs - Dr. Cox just rocks my world!

Well done on another amazing chapter. Carole xxx

Author's Response: Hey Carole, thanks for the review :). I'm glad you liked their conversation, don't worry I never intended for Remes to snog 'Lily'. I just wanted to scare you all.

I'm glad you liked the diary part. I was really tossing up if I should put it in or not, so I'm glad you liked it.

Dr. Cox = Awesome. Best character ever (well in my opinion anyway..)

Thanks again for the review. Cheers, Helen

Reviewer: Equinox Chick Signed
Date: 06/22/09 Title: Chapter 12: Chapter Twelve: Objection!

OH, MAN! (or rather please man up - LOL brilliant line!) You never disappoint me. This fic is so good and that chapter was hilarious. I loved the trial - it was so ... so ... Maraudery. Trouble is I'm finding Peter's eventual betrayal of them all even harder to bear because he's a proper Marauder and not a snivelling coward.

I do have some nit picks (sorry).

“No fair! I’m never judge!” whined Peter. I think that should be 'not' - not 'no'.

Urgh, his is so not my type.” Umm, should that be 'he is' and not 'his is'?

But they were just me being very picky because I honestly adore this fic so much (AUDIOFICS...AUDIOFICS... - request it someone).

I can't stop this review without saying how brilliant the last part was. I love the way you slip back into seriousness at the end. Lily is finding out that there is so much more to those four boys than she previously thought and it's great seeing her perceptions change. MARVELLOUS!

Carole xxx (who wants to record this as I think I mentioned last time)

Author's Response: Firstly, Carole, I must apologise for taking sooooo long to reply to this review. Honestly, life just totally go the better of me.

Thanks for the tips, I should go and fix them up soon. Tee hee, I have a feeling someone wants to record this. Well never fear, there is an end in site. And I only have to write about 2000 words before this fic is finished.

I'm glad you liked the last part. I try and slip in some seriousness (and Siriusness) in when I can. Thanks again for your review, can't wait to hear what this sounds like when you record it :D

Reviewer: Equinox Chick Signed
Date: 03/05/10 Title: Chapter 3: Chapter Three: It Must Be The Shampoo

Oh Lordy. I've just recorded this chapter for Audio fics and had to pause several times because I was laughing so much. My favourite bit is this. Twenty minutes later, James brushed passed Lily on the way to Transfiguration. Standing on tip-toes, he whispered something into her ear. “I don’t think your relationship worked out.”

LOL - so funny. ~Carole~

Reviewer: Equinox Chick Signed
Date: 01/17/09 Title: Chapter 8: Chapter Eight: What's Our Game Plan?

Oh, this is clever. I have been wondering how you'll do the Quidditch match, and now I know. Hufflepuffs playing dirty; as a 'Puff that makes me proud. It's nice to know they're not docile 'duffers' all the time.

I really did enjoy the 'girly night'. James' first embarrassed reaction at the girls taking their clothes off and then his subsequent egging on was very funny. Typical boy!

I like Alice in this fic. She's becoming a 'real' character. Of course she must have been clever and brave (she was an Auror after all) but we see so little of her in fics apart from as Neville's mum. She's smart and funny. The revelation (if indeed it is a revelation) about Remus is interesting. Is James as Lily going to punch out the werewolf?

I have a nit pick, however; Snitch needs to be capitalised.

My absolute favourite parts of this chapter are James' worry over Lily getting hurt coupled with the fervent wish that their children inherit his Quidditch skills. Touching, yet funny.

I love this story!

Author's Response: Awww thanks for the awesome review Carole! Whoot go Hufflepuff! It's so much fun to make them play dirty, their playing style is never much described in the books. They had motive, those sneaky Hufflepuffs...

I really enjoyed writing the 'girly night'. Boys... hehe they are so typical.

I'm so glad you like Alice. Her character is becoming clearer and clearer to me. There will be a chapter later on where both the "sidekicks" talk about themselves a little bit. I'm glad you like how Alice is being characterised. It is indeed a revelation... but that is all I am going to say :D

Thanks for picking that up! Comments like that help me improve my fics :)

I'm glad you liked that bit. Even though it has heaps of humour, deep down it is a romance story. I'm so glad you are really liking this story. Congrats on becoming a MerMuggle! And I will get around to writing that prompt you left for me in the Three Broomsticks I swear :) Thanks again for the review!

Ha ha ha - laughing over the Chapter End Notes . Mmm, I want to record this so badly!

Ahh, this was a lovely chapter. I was giggling like mad to begin with and then I died when Lily called him moose boy. *snort*. And Lily pouring her heart out to James and being overheard by everyone - brilliant moment. You managed to convey humour and sadness in that scene - at the same time. Just masterly! Ohh, and the locket. I'd forgotten all about that, but now it all makes sense.

The small scenes with the Marauders were great. Sirius, in particular, was so IC. I loved his end line - Merlin, I'm giggling all over the place. hee hee.

Can't nit-pick, I'm laughing too much (and weeping a little) ~Carole~

Author's Response: Carole *squishes*

As always thanks for your review :) Brilliant. I'm glad you liked the locket, it was important plot point - I needed it to prove to Lily that James was worth it. I'm glad you like my Sirius, I've tried very hard to keep him in character.

Thanks for the review. Never fear, only 1,500 more words and the last chapter shall be submitted for your recording pleasure :)

Oh, have I told you how much I love you ... and this story. Pure and utter genius. I couldn't stop giggling.

“Why did you say we were going to the Head’s dormitory?” James shrugged, “It’s a good code-word for when we want to make out later on.” How you've subverted this cliche is wonderful *grins*. This is very funny, Bine. I loved the secret conversation that James and Sirius have with their faces. I can just imagine what it must look like to Remus and Peter watching.

Minor nitpick in the Prologue. Sirius wouldn't say "This sucks!" - wrong era -us Brits didn't start saying that till late 80's.

Very funny and I can't wait for Sirius and Peter. Update soon!
