Emmy Chahal for CBC, Canada. - I was just wondering what the most valuable piece of advise you would give to an aspiring writer?

JK Rowling: Read as much as you can, I think that there is nothing as important, because that will really show you what makes good writing in your opinion, obviously it's very subjective. You will probably go through a phrase when you imitate your favourite writers and I think that is necessary and a good learning process.

After that, you just have to accept it takes a phenomenal amount of perseverence and the people who deserve to make it ... you probably will not like 90 per cent of what you write, one day you write a single page you like and build on that.

Hi, I'm a young writer here.

Those are J.K. Rowling's own words, everyone. For me, it may be a bit dificult to follow them, as excited as I was to find out that my absolute favorite writer of all time gave me adivce.

1) Read as much as you can. Check.

2) Go through a phase imitating your favorite writers. If fanfiction counts, then, infinite checks.

3) Perservere...... well, I don't think I'd live if I tried not to write. =)

4) You won't like 90% of your writing, so write a page you like and go from there. Haha, so true. That's why reviews matter! ;) They give you self confidence.

I really love the Harry Potter seiries, but I love Mugglenet's Fanfiction even more.

I have way too many favorite characters, but I especially love Lily Evans and Lily Potter. (And Neville, who goes without saying).

The only ships I don't support is Hermione/Draco, or Ginny/Draco. I personally think Draco would be better off living alone and childless. I know that sounds.... a bit.... mean, but Draco, I think, is generally a bad person, despite his reasons for acting bad.

About Snape: I recently went to Potted Potter a parody by Dan and Jeff, and they asked the crowd if Snape was good or bad. I embarrased myself by shouting 'Bad'.

However, I wholeheartedly agree that Snape was a very mean person. He was terrible to Harry, and pretty much everyone else, no matter how torn up inside he was. Snape's personally one of my favorite characters (if you didn't guess from 'Almost') and I have nothing against him. I just don't think he's 'good'.

I hope you like my stories.

Wow. Haven't been on here in a long time. ;) If anyone's interested in what I've been up to these days, I suggest you look up the author

Astrid Goes For A Spin

on Fanfiction.net. Don't worry, I haven't done any Harry Potter on there, unless you count my true work of art, my crossover. Now, no more spoilers!

Read on, and please, review!

Also, about reveiws - some of them I've forgotten to thank the reveiwer, but I really love getting reveiws, so to anyone I've forgotten, thanks for reveiwing!

Skydive by wauwabee

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary: "I don't wanna parachute into love,
No, I wanna skydive
And fall until we fly, live until we die together,
If heaven is my home, you could only make it better."

-Skydive, Jason Reeves

Seventh Year at Hogwarts is about much more than memorizing all the lessons for the upcoming N.E.W.Ts. It's about falling in love with someone you least expected to, about realizing who you are and what you want to do. It's about friendship, laughter, and the first steps towards a great betrayal. You strengthen the bonds already made and reconnect with someone you've had a fallout with.
Everyday Voldemort gets stronger, and the outside world becomes more real and more frightening. Lily, Marlene and the Marauders learn what it means to fall in love, what true friendship is, how to let go, and what is most important in life. Because not growing up is not an option. And some things are worth fighting for.

You're a really good writer, I like this story a lot, I think that you captured most of the characters pretty well, only I think Lily's a little more spunky and would never go out with someone as boring as barbie boy. =)

Author's Response: Hahahaha I'm glad you like it! Spencer has some spunk to him, he has to have a bit as he is the Ravenclaw Quidditch captain, but he did change over the coarse of his relationship with Lily. You will find out why er...at a later date. Cheers : )

I liked the gist of it, but I think it would be really good if it were a one-shot, about how someone felt about it. I liked the poem, and I feel really bad for critizing it, but I think that it could be MAGICAL if you made it, like, a one shot from Ginny's POV or something.

Springtime Blossoms by loveismagicharry

Beautiful. Absolutely Beautiful. I loved it. It was the best poem I've ever read, my favorite, because it's not ryming.

Author's Response: Oh, my gosh, you simply must know that this means the world to me, it really does. I really like non-rhyming poems- hopefully I'll find time to type more of my writings and drabbles and submit them soon. Thank you SO MUCH for reading and reviewing; I can't even put into words how grateful I am. Cheers!

Forces of Nature by Equinox Chick

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary: In the midst of battle, and after that kiss, Ron knew he loved Hermione. He'd never said the words, but she knew.

Didn't she?

This story was inspired by a song called Forces of Nature by the Backstreet Boys. This pairing and that group are the favourites of Amanda (ahattab) who is celebrating her birthday today.

Disclaimer: I am not JK Rowling and have never even seen a backstreet boy.

Thank you, Natalie, (hestiajones) for the quick beta job.

I absolutely loved it- it was not a 'love story' by any means- it was unique and amazing. I especially liked how it showed Ron in a good light, unlike most of the stories about him.

Thank You so much for writing it. It really brightened my day.

Author's Response: Thank you very much. Yeah, I feel sorry for Ron and think he gets a bad deal in fanfiction. Glad I brightened your day. ~Carole~

Bicie Serca by BlueJoker

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: Sofia seeks refuge within the walls of Hogwarts from the bloodied and terror-filled streets of Krakow. Yet she is not entirely welcomed. The moment she reaches the cold shores of England she experiences jealousy, loss of identity, the perils of war and the question of her right to exist.

Nominated for Best Historical in the QSQs 2011.

Very very good, I enjoyed it very much - except for Dumbledore's stupidity. I know that's how he really was, I just hated him for it. Doesn't Dumbledore understand that other Muggles are doing that to the innocent ones?? =)

Author's Response: That is the problem - he sees it only as a muggle problem. He does want to help them but he's so besotted with Grindelwald that he's convinced himself that Muggles are these weak creatures that desperately need wizarding control before they all kill each other. It's not quite stupidity, more convenient ignorance so that he can continue to delude himself that Grindelwald is great. Deep down he knows it's wrong. Thank you for reading and reviewing!

Reviewer: Snowlily Signed
Date: 06/12/11 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1, The Zimmermaanns.

Very well written, I enjoyed it very much. I just have one question: if she was expelled from Durmstrang under Grindlewald, for being a Muggleborn Jew, why wasn't she killed? It seems too perfect a combination to pass up murdering, if I were thinking of Grindlewald.

Author's Response: Grindelwald doesn't actually wish to kill Jews, per say. He is simply against Muggles and Muggleborns, but exploiting prejudices and the Muggle war. As Hitler banned Jews from non-Jewish schools, Grindelwald extended this to Durmstrang, as the only Jews there were Muggleborns (conventional magical talent is rare in the Jewish community; thus the perfect place for Grindelwald to start). Sofia doesn't know this, and all will be revealed in a later chapter, but essentially Grindelwald doesn't particularly want to be seen as spilling magical blood as it's all part of a scheme for 'the greater good'. Witches and Wizards across Europe don't know/realise the extent of Grindelwald's influence, it's guess work for the vast majority - including, crucially, Sofia herself. Thank you very much for your review, I'm happy to answer any further questions :)

Looking Forward by Gmariam

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Lily Potter is getting ready for her last year at Hogwarts, shopping with her cousin in Diagon Alley. She is not particularly excited for the coming year until a chance encounter with a friend from her childhood changes her outlook. Suddenly, seventh year doesn't look so bad.

This is Gmariam of Ravenclaw writing for the 2011 Aprils Fools' Day Challenge in the Great Hall, Prompt 3, Next Generation.

I spent the whole first half of the fic trying to think who Brian was, then I figured it out the second before I read about the Leaky Cauldron. I was so happy I was right, but I scanned the whole rest of the fic to see if I really was. You can't imagine how much suspense you put in the story by not telling us who the love interest was!

Author's Response: Yay, I'm glad I built a little suspense! And I'm glad you figured it out, hope you enjoyed it! A very belated thank you for the review, I appreciate it! ~Gina :)

Not in the Cards by ToBeOrNotToBeAGryffindor, Apollonious

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary:

Hufflepuff Albus Potter was a firm believer that it was a fact of nature and a rite of passage to torment one's sibling. And who better than his nerdy, Ravenclaw little sister? Her messy hair and stupid pile of books... she so had it coming.

But Lily had other ideas.

Reviewer: Snowlily Signed
Date: 04/18/11 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1

I loved it soo much! I'm the only person who ever put Lily as a Ravenclaw...it was refreshing to see her like that. Normally she's a sort of stupid Gryffindor. I think you did a really good job, about how she was smarter than Albus, how she tricked them into thinking they pranked her. I especially liked how she was a prefect and she still did all this stuff. But I especially liked how even when she was pranking Albus, she wouldn't stoop as low as he tried to.
Really good job, I'm putting this as a favorite!

Author's Response:

Lily is a very versatile character in the Potterverse, in that she has the possibility to be so many things. We don't see much of who she really is in the epilogue, so she could be anyone. It's almost a shame that she isn't put to better use. But being the cracking younger sister to the smartass-come-dumbass older brother is a fun way to realise this, hehe. She is, after all, a Potter through and through.

Thank you for the review, and our apologies for the lateness in the reply!

All in the Genes by Equinox Chick

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: When Lily Potter is humiliated by her brother, she sees her chances of a date with the lush Greg Cadwallader disintegrate. But rather than hide away in the kitchens, she decides this time that James has gone too far. She wants revenge, but how does she get the punishment to fit the crime?

Disclaimer: I am not JK Rowling or have any drop of Weasley pranking blood in me.

This story is for Olivia (Apollonius) who likes a certain ship as much as I do, and has written the odd prank in her time. Happy Birthday!

Loved it again : Lily fights back! You don't see many of them - but you write them all! Loved this one, loved Not in the Cards - keep writing! (Although I think Lily's running out of brothers - maybe you could try a cousin next!)

Author's Response: Thank you. I didn't actually write Not In The Cards, but I know the fic you mean. This was written for one of the authors, though. Glad you enjoyed this. ~Carole~

Wonderful, insightful, beautifully written, you characterised Ginny perfectly, although I liked Luna best - humming the School song in the face of Bellatrix Lestrange! That must have taken nerve. Please do write more!

Author's Response: Wow, what a string of compliments! Hahah :) I wanted to add just a little something to show Luna's character's floating-above-the-clouds personality, and I figured that was a good way to do it. Apparently I made a good choice! And you'll be happy to know I'm working on more stories. Keep checking back, and thank so much for taking the time to review. :)

"Well, she's sometimes not like this...." Hugo is too honest for his own good! Much too short, I want much, much more! I'm so sad. You still haven't told me why Lily's hips are stiff. A healthy girl does not have stiff hips! Keep writing!

Author's Response: Haha I know! I love Hugo, he is so cute and such a Hufflepuff. Well don't worry the next chapter is very exciting, although that is according to me and I have been spending far too much time with it. You will find out soon, I promise. Thank you very much for the review!

I like how you've written Lily's character: she's very...unconcerned. I'd like to see what happens when someone comes and bites back. =) Keep writing; I've been waiting for this story a long time. =)

Author's Response: I love Lily as well, she is something else! I'm so sorry I know I have taken forever but I've been busy. Chapter 5 is being beta-ed and Chapter 6 is in progress. You should be seeing the next chapter very very soon. Thank you so much for reading so far :)

Excellent, extremely well written, I liked the idea of how she can't go get revenge, stoop to their level. I have a question, though. The friend that Ginny lost was Colin Creevy, right? I really loved the last paragraph... if only I could have thought of it first =)

Author's Response: That's so sweet, thank you! About the question, I was thinking of Colin Creevy, though Tonks momentarily came to mind as well when I wrote that line. I'm so glad you liked it!
