What can I say. I live in London and am obsessed with a teenage wizard and his friends. Am I mad? Probably Do I care? Hell no!
EDIT: Grown? Um, probably not
For my first foray into the realms of fanfiction I've chosen to write about the Marauders. I'll always stick fairly closely to canon as I think JK knows best. Although I've enjoyed reading about other ships I, personally, don't think I could write with conviction about Ginny/Crabbe or Hermione/Mclaggan relationships.
EDIT: ha ha ha ha ha - How I have changed! I'm now firmly in the rare-pair, SSP, and things that aren't quite conventional camp, although I still loves me some James/Lily.
My second chaptered fic (Apparently Asleep) has started a love affair with Tonks/Remus and confirmed my obsession for all things Sirius. *sigh*
I am indebted to Terri (mudbloodproud) for being a great beta and all round amazing person. If it hadn't been for her encouragement I would have thrown in the towel many months ago.
EDIT: I have made a lot of wonderful friends during my past three years on MNFF, including (in no particular order) Natalie, Kara, Hannah/Bob, Jess, Gina, Lea, Lori, Julia, Minna, Emmahhhh, and the fantabulous BB.
I hope Mugglenet and you enjoy reading my words as much as I've enjoyed writing them. Huge thank-you to my niece, Amanda, for being one of the first to catch the Harry Potter bug and nagging me into reading them.
I’ve written a variety of stories, so here is them arranged in categories. Some are cross- referenced. So a James/Lily may appear in Marauder or Canon Romance
EDIT: I haven't written much Harry Potter fanfiction for a while. It is unlikely I'll update the two chaptered fics I first started as they became a little too long and unwieldy. Sorry about that.

This is a really lovely piece. It's very interesting that it's James coming out of the wand to save his son and his friend. I love that he gets to see Harry again and ges back to Lily. Beautifully written.
Author's Response: Hi, Carole! *waves* Thank-you - I'm pleased you like it. It's my favourite one-shot (that I've written) so far.
I didn't expect to like this, to be honest, as I loathe Umbridge and Moody's not a favourite of mine either but I'm pleased to say that you proved me wrong.
You've made Dolores into a fully rounded character and not just the boo-hiss archetypal villain. Moody is excellent too. I love the thought of a 13 year old saying "CONSTANT VIGILANCE" - that tickled me. I could not work out how on earth they'd ever be in the same house either but now it makes total sense.
Author's Response: I felt the same way about Umbridge and Moody myself, pre-writing this. Now I've grown a lot fonder of both, but writing about a character will often do that. ;) I'm so pleased that you think I've managed to show them both in different and believable lights! And I'm also quite glad you think it's plausible they were both in Slytherin. That one seems to have gotten me into a bit of trouble. I think it makes perfect sense, but then, I'm the author. ;) Anyway, thank you so much for the review!
I liked this. You've really caught the whole feeding baby bit at the beginning. The joke to Remus about him not having breasts- spot on!
I thought he'd gone to Hogwarts already so I was pleasantly surprised when he came back and that was a lovely note he left her.
One minor quibble, I don't think they'd have had a meeting at The Burrow because it was unsafe- The Weasleys were all at Aunt Muriels according to Bill.
But that's a very tiny quibble. Overall I really enjoyed it.
Author's Response: Ooh, good quibble - I missed that one. Thanks!
Chapter Three has been validated!
This is an intriguing story. I'm pleased to see that Alexandra seems to be her own person and not merely Harry's twin. She has a lot of spirit. Your Remus is very compassionate I'm pleased to say, I want to know where Hernione's gone...any clues...pretty please.
I have one eensy quibble *sorry*. I'm not sure Snape would have called Professor McGonagall by her first name in front of students.
But that's my only quibble - the rest is all good.
Author's Response: Hm. Curious. I don't remember having Snape call MsGonagall by Minerva. I wonder which chapter it was in?
As for Hermione, you'll know soon enough. Oh, and congrats Carole!

Or do they?
Could a person kissed by a Dementor retain even just a fragment of their soul?
This is very good. I couldn't work out where you were going with this at all. It was depressing (in a good way) at the beginning but I thought the end was so uplifting. Interesting and well written.
Author's Response: Thanks Carole! I'm glad it made sense in the end :) I was worried it was just so strange it wouldn't work! Thanks a million for reviewing.
“You're everywhere and nowhere baby, that's where you're at
Going down a bumpy hillside, in your hippy hat
Flying across the country, and getting fat
Saying everything is groovy, when your tires are flat.”
Platform shoes, purple flares, short skirts and funky tops. The 1970s. Pet Rocks are the big thing. The summers are hot. The bakers’ on strike. Sex, drugs and rock and roll are busting from your living room in black and white. It’s a confusing time to be a teenager, and an even more confusing time to be a teenage witch.
It’s the summer of 76. A summer of water fights, parties, sunburns and ice cream. Every day passes in a half forgotten blur. Cloud nine doesn’t reach your high. The world is your playground!
And then you wake up.
You never thought that you could be a person people look up to. You’ve spent your life messing up and playing somebody else’s part. But it’s time for a change. The year is 1976 and you are a sixth year student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
This is your journey. And you’re in for one hell of a ride.
I really like this story. It's very evocative and shows that just becasue someone's magic they can't avoid the pitfalls of drugs and society. Extremely well written too. Can't wait to read the rest of it - especially as you've promised some Marauder action.
Author's Response: Hey! Thankyou so much for the review! I'm glad you like the theme of the first chapter, there shouldn't really be anymore drug referances, I don't think, I just wanted to show Lucia's character as being a dumb teenager. And yes, definatly Marauder action in the next chapter! I'm a little scared of writing them though...
This is a really good story. You've got the Trio down so well - I find them very hard to write but you've captured their characters perfectly. The mention of Ginny doing things to wind up Ron is very funny.
Love the story and can't wait for more.
Author's Response: Carole! I'm pleased you like my characterisation, usually I don't feel like I can get the Trio right. :) Thank you for the review, dear!
Bine- This is absolutely superb. The tension is unbelievable. I'm shivering with fright and anticipation. It is so evocative and spooky.
I cannot wait to read the rest.
Blown away!
Author's Response: Aww, thanks, Carole! *squishes* And yay for being the first to review!
OOOOHHH NOOOOOO!! Poor Dean!
What a delightful rare-pair you've written about. Typically, though, I doubt Cho will give him another chance. I enjoyed this story, HJ, you've taken a character we know very little about (Dean) and fleshed him out wonderfully. He comes across as so nervous with Cho, fun-loving with Sean (I love that they don't give a monkeys what Harry and Ron think of them) and his flirting with Rosmerta is brilliant. Ron gets all nervous with his favourite barmaid but Dean - what a lad!
I love the friendship between Dean and Seamus. The books, naturally, concentrate on the Trio and it's only later we see part of Dean's background when he's on the run with Ted. Seamus, as the cheeky boy, is well written too. I laughed out loud - literally - at his banshee costume and the high pitched voice. But I doubt Dean will forgive him for turning up at that particular moment. Dean, you should have just come clean and said you were going on a date! I hope he realises that Seamus is going to have a lot of fun with this story in the dorm later that night. *plot bunny* Can you write the sequel?
All in all, a good read and an interesting take on a rare-pair. Well done. Carole xxx
They are insane.
They are both in St. Mungo’s Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries. I believe Neville visits them, with his grandmother, during the holidays.
They do not recognise him.
Frank and Alice Longbottom suffered a terrible fate. It is not one to wish on even your worst enemy. Maybe their fate was written in the stars, and maybe it wasn’t. But, before it happened, pre-set or not, they had a life. They shared a story together. You know how it ends. Do you know how it goes?
Mere
This is a wonderful story. It is so well written and I love the way everything is going so beautifully for them and then you slip in the dark side. Amazingly well crafted opening chapter. *adds to favourites*
And YAY! I'm the first to review *I think*
Author's Response: -hugs glamorous older sister- Yes, you are the first to review! Congrats! And thanks you so much for such a sweet review. I can't stop smiling now. :D Thanks again, Carole! xo Mere
That is a beautiful poem about love, heartbreak and indecision. That is what I'm taking from your words. You have a special skill, in that you are able to catch a certain moment and frame it so superbly.
Carole xxx
I was going to wait until the last chapter to review this but I can't resist - so here you go, Terri.
This is masterful. You have captured Sirius' emotions perfectly. His anger, his utter devastation and his thirst for revenge. I want to grab hold of him and demand he listens to the fortune teller but knowing you as the Queen of Canon - that won't be allowed.
I can't wait to read the rest.
Author's Response: Carole,
Hearing from you that I captured Sirius perfectly means so much to me. You know how much I love that man. I too wish I could write a different ending, but alas, I must stick to canon. You know I am all about sticking to canon. LOL
Terri
Very good, Terri. You've done well with the prompts I hardly recognised where they were. Even though I know how this is going to turn out, there's a part of me screaming at Sirius to hex Peter quickly. *grins*
The scene in the church was very atmospheric.
Have to admit for one ghastly moment I thought Carole was going to be Peter's mother! Good revenge. I look forward to the next chapter where Sirius escapes, finds Carole and realises she's the love of his life.
Author's Response: Carole,
I wish I could have had him hexing Peter and winning the day, but canon says otherwise. As for you being Peter's mother, never even considered it. And there won't be a chapter of him escaping to you. Sorry, dear, that scenario just isn't in the cards.
Terri
I am luinrina of Hufflepuff, and this is my story for the seventh round of the Gauntlet.
Very intriguing, Bine. I can't see any prompts at all so you must have woven them in seamlessly.
I do enjoy reading about characters I know very little about and you've fleshed Isla out very well.
Tiny nit-pick. Surprisingly, though, I was back to call him by his first name. Personally, I think this reads a touch awkwardly. I'd put 'calling' instead of call.
Great beginning, though, and I can't wait to read the rest. Carole
Author's Response: Yay, first review! *hugs* Thanks, Carole. *giggles* The prologue is part of the answer to prompt one. hehee =D And I'll check on this nit-pick you have.
This is a lovely story. Poor Andromeda. I really like the way you've managed to portray Teddy and his enjoyment, at such a young age, at being a Metamorphamagus. So many great lines but this one had to be my favourite.
At first, he seemed to think it was the most exciting thing in the world, reaching out towards the bright colors. Now, it was just something mundane, part of his life. That was the way with everything. Nothing stayed shiny and new forever.
So sad.
I liked the tie in with Narcissa at the end, too. Well done.
Author's Response: Thanks so much! I really struggle to write kids, especially that young. I'm glad to hear it wasn't a total flop. :D
Oh Lordy, lordy. I started laughing from the first line. Brilliant!
Author's Response: I think the thought of Harry roasting on an open fire is pretty funny. Anyway, thanks for the reivew and I'm glad you liked the story. :D
This is so lovely. Okay, I admit it, I started crying at this line.
There were ten children whom he never got to meet;.
I LOVED Roxanne, She seems very naughty to me. I think she's going to be worse than Fred jnr.
“We’re pregnant.”
“We?” asked Hermione. Oh, my word. I can just see the look Hermione gives him at that point.
Okay weeny nit pick - *sorry*
The first two were probably the hardest. The only new addition was Teddy and he was only there for a few hours in the afternoon. But then the babies started arriving. Okay, I think Victoire was born in 1999(first anniversary of Battle of Hogwarts) so she would have been around for the second Christmas - unless, of course, Fleur dug her heels in and refused to listen to Celestina Warbeck!
Good read and very touching. Carole
Author's Response: Carole,
I worked out a time-line using what info we have for certain from the epilogue and interviews and such. With my timeline the uncertainty of whether she was born in 1999 or2000 worked if I used 2000. So, since we only know her birthday not the year, I went with 2000. Which would have her starting Hogwarts in 2011, which is generally believed to be when she started. But you had to have known, I would have my facts backed up before I used a date, right?
As for Roxanne, I see her as a combination of both twins in one little body, with a bit of Ginny's power thrown in. After all, only three, no wand and she countered a hex by her grandfather. I think I am going to have to write a next-gen fic now.
Thank you for the review and for questioning me on Victoire's DOB.
Terri
This is such a wonderful story. I love how you've included elements from the afterlife (namely Sirius *wink*) and the obstacles that Fred faces are not just physical. Esmeralda is intriguing, too.
The conversation between George and Fred is inspired. Incredibly touching, too. I'm not ashamed to admit it but I started crying at that point.
Hmmm, now I thought this was complete, so it's interesting that you've not marked it as complete. I take it that a certain someone is nagging to return and also someone else is waiting for an entrance.
Brilliant story, Terri.
Carole xxx
This is intriguing. I'm desperate to know who Kingsley's long lost love is. Looking forward to the update and hope it's soon.
Carole
Author's Response: Thank you. I'm glad you find it intresting. I plan to update very soon. :D
Very funny! I love the fact that everyone is in character and they're all having fun! You write incredibly well. Fabulous Christmas story.
Author's Response: Oh, thank you very much :D. I had a lot of fun imagining what everyone was up to OoTP Christmas. Glad you liked it :D.
